The Cabinet meeting on July 25 approved the proposal to increase entrance fees for foreigners at historic sites. The revised rates apply to registered historical sites and 72 national museums, except that Thai nationals will retain the same rates as they have since 2008.

No problem with that. I prefer that to the very common western trick of having tourist taxes paid on a per night basis. At least in Thailand I have a choice to pay it or not by visiting these places or not.

Well, the increased entrance fees are really based on ethnicity rather than nationality.

Other Asian nationals from Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia get treated like Thai nationals.

The entrance fee is based on the color of your skin. If this would be practiced in the US or Europe, hell would brake loose.

Not so - Flip your work permit out and they 99% of the time let you in at the residents rate. The anecdotal "Asians (non thai) get through for the Thai rate" is probably only when it is assumed they are Thai.
