Buying used motorbikes from a garage

Where in Pattaya should I go to get a look at a wide selection of used motorbikes? Looking at something around the 125cc size.

I have no direct experience, but I've heard good things from several sources about this shop on Third Road across the street from the Arbour hotel

I can't give you an English name for it since all the signage is in Thai, but it's right on the corner.

I recommend this guy HIGHLY, an older man with a family business. Has a lot of activity brings bikes in and out every week, lots of Scooters in a variety of price ranges. He stands behind his sale with onsite adjustments, repairs if needed. All transfer paperwork, title etc included in sale price. I personally bought a Grand Filano for my friend and have 2 other friends who have bought their and are satisfied customers.

I actually went there on the recommendation of Everything Pattaya who also rates them highly.

An option:

Some people rate PJ Trading, which is a bit away from Central Pattaya on the dark side. My interaction with the owner, Pauline, was not to my liking. YRMD.

I didn't buy last May but I'm more keen now. Took a look there and spoke with a younger man with a small moustache. He was friendly and as said includes all additional costs in the purchase price. Bikes don't have prices on them.

Also looked at the place opposite Tukcom but it had more new than used and the used were dirty and a little worse for wear.

I used this shop for previous motobike service as know others who purchased there and used him for service.  A few months ago I bought a bike from him and exchanged my old one in as part of the deal.  He is knowledgeable and seems very reputable and one of the younger boys working there is his son.  They are friendly and professional in my experience and he did a fewe extra things for me without additional charges.  All the paperwork was included in the price I paid.  Would not hesitate to recommend his shop.

Common sense is not very common.

I will follow this thread (and others) about motorbikes closely as I soon will become an ex-pat.

I have always hired a bike on my trips, usually click 125's but for my retirement I probably will go for something bigger like a PCX 160. I too would be grateful for advice not just about dealers but will research more about the type of bike that may suit me.

I bought one bike from Mike Motorbike Trade, and would recommend them.

I do not think their business model offers a lot of value to the customer, so if that's something that's important to you there are other places where profit margin for the seller might be less

My experience is that Mike Motorbike has good bikes,  and often they have some larger bikes if that's what you're interested in.

But price wise they're very proud of what they sell.

And it's actually on 3rd Road, but that was likely a typo (unless they've moved).

Not a typo but a mental fart.

I have been all over the board trying to figure out what I like in a bike.   I am a big guy and I've rented a pcx and asked the rental place for a price to buy it.    It's a 2013 black pcx 150 and the odometer says 17,000km (I don't believe that).  The owner said she wanted 35000 plus I pay for all transfer fees.   Seems a bit steep as the bike definitely has some wear.   I'm going to keep looking but any opinions on this deal is appreciated.

Depending on how big of a big guy you are, you might consider a test ride on a Forza. My progression was a Click, to a PCX, to a Forza. For me, the Forza was by far the most comfortable--not the most sporty, but easily the most comfortable.

Yes I was going to mention that!

I brought my 2018 Yamaha Nmax from him in 2021. At that time he had an office (now closed) in Jomtien at Laguna 2 near my condo.

Regarding what type of bike to rent/buy, I started with a Yamaha Elegance then a Honda Click and finally Honda PCX.  The PCX is much more comfortable than the other two and less "buzzy" at higher speeds if on the highway or darkside where you might be going 60-80 kph.  The PCX rides well with two people but still small enough for in town riding and parking.  I recently upgraded to the 160cc model which is a four valve engine and mine is the ABS model which had front and rear disk brakes.  My previous one was a 2013 and although I had no issues with it I did want a newer model with keyless ignition, led lights, etc.  If undecided you can rent various models to try out before buying to find something to your liking.

I bought a Honda Zoomer X from the 3rd Rd business. We had hired one before and loved it. I'm not convinced that it was the best choice for everything but it will do for now. Received good service from the owner and his son.

Since I started looking at motorbikes I also found that the PCX is the one everyone wants when looking for a twist-and-go scooter.

Someday I'll get my motorbike licence and consider getting a 'proper' one.
