Police Inspect Pattaya Walking Street

Read this in the Pattaya news: In total, 234 officers from Pattaya City, the Banglamung District Public Heath Office, Pattaya Tourist Police, Immigration Office, and the Chonburi Provincial Employment Office joined in the inspection last night (February 17th).

Was wondering if this is common on Walking Street? Seems like 234 officers is a large show of force.

Was anyone involved in this? Do the check foreigners for PP's or ID's, Do they go into the bars?

Into the bars to check their paperwork.

I've been through this twice and the bar was the objective. I was told to "check-bin" and be on my way.

The bar is required to have a copy of the ladies ID on hand and all license in order and up to date

It's a large pile of paperwork and the BIB will sit down and go through it. If applicable they may drug test the employees also.

Flickering lights inside are the first indication of the group coming this way

It happens fairly regularly when there is a new 'Sheriff' in town. It doesn't really affect foreigners and is largely just a PR stunt. These are the occasions when they release a statement such as "Colonel Somchai and a group of fellow officers visited Walking Street last night and found no evidence of any wrongdoing', or words to that effect.😀
