Adelphi Hotel - a Lottellee Winna Review (November 22)

Intro - This trip was with a buddy of mine from the UK, and he asked me to book somewhere central and to try and keep it as close to 1,000 THB as possible…oh and he also wanted a pool. 

Location- Hard to beat the location of this hotel. It’s next door to the larger hotel Amber - located on a small Soi just off soi Buhakow (about 150 metres and opposite Treetown running towards 3rd road). Great location for Treetown, Buhakow and LK Metro, plus Baht Buses running both ways up and down Buhakow.

Check in -quick, easy and efficient, we booked payment in advance with Agoda and we’re not asked to leave any deposit. The staff respectfully request that all ‘additional guests’ (the gals) hand in their ID cards when they are brought back to the room. No joiner fee.

Rooms - The room design is modern and fresh - reasonably spacious too at 30 sqm. The room has a closet with hanging rail and drawers for socks and stuff. There is also a small modern safe. Good size refrigerator and small flat screen smart television. There also was enough power outlets to charge my devices. The rooms are opened by electronic cards and the key needs to be placed into the holder in your room to power the electricity. My room had a decent accessible balcony with two chairs and a view across the city).  The bed was large and comfy enough to sleep on - pillows a little thin and lumpy. The AC worked well, and the toilet, bathroom and shower room are modern and well designed. 

Wifi - The WiFi signal quality is outstanding, and no need to log in every day.

Breakfast - The restaurant is currently closed, but TBH there is just so much choice elsewhere - Copper Kettle a few doors down serves a nice brekkie.

Facilities - The hotel has a nice rooftop swimming pool with sun loungers and towels. I did wonder if there would be enough loungers for peak season. There is also a gym down in the basement.  The hotel has a speedy elevator, and I never waited more than a minute or so.

Customer Service - The staff were nice and accommodating. Everyone is very friendly and chatty. Always had good banter with the reception girls and the night porter. The staff are respectful to any guests you might invite back to your ‘loom’…no guest charges (for one visitor), ID cards must be handed in (a good thing in my view) and you get a call from reception to make sure everything is OK before the lady gets her card back. Security is good and I felt safe and comfortable the entire time. The place is clean as a whistle...as always guys consider leaving a daily tip for the hard working cleaner.

Noise - This hotel is located down a small soi off Buhakow and is very quiet indeed…especially if you ask for a room at the rear.

Price - I got this at a price of 1,100 THB (via an Agoda offer). I thought this good value, and I see that later this month it’s on at 1,700 with Agoda. 

Amber v Adelphi - Inevitably with the hotels being next door there are bound to be comparisons. Having stayed in both my preference is the Amber, which I would describe as a classy 4 star hotel as opposed to the Adelphi which is IMHO a very decent 3 star. However bear in mind that the Amber is usually 20% more expensive than the Adelphi.

Overall -  If you are in the market for a decent 3/4 star hotel at a competitive price, and which has a top location in central Pattaya then this property is one for you. Like the Amber next door, this is not one of those hotels that do tour groups, so no large groups of Indian lads, nor coach loads of Chinese. US, Aussie, European and Korean guests seemed to dominate.  IMHO this is a really good hotel for those who enjoy 3/4 star and who want to be near (although not on top of ‘the action’). As always, the booking of this hotel is price dependent. If you can get it around 1,000 low season and 1,700 high season, then my advice is to put it on your shortlist.

Good review, i stayed there about five years ago, i liked everything about it especially the rooms, i stayed in a slightly bigger room and had tons of drawer and storage space which i like, and as you mention the wi-fi was consistent and never dropped.

Definitely one of the best pattaya hotels hotels i've stayed in, only negative was that one night it chucked it down and the soi was flooded in parts, apparantly its a problem down this soi during heavy rain, it certainly wouldnt stop me from staying there again though.

Not the hotels hotels fault but there were some territorial mutts down the soi who used to have good old bark, i think when they saw i wasnt particularly scared they gave it up as a bad job after a few days.

Very similar to my own thoughts; the only significant difference is that I stayed in what I believe to be the next category up, which was slightly larger and had a small loveseat and coffee table opposite the TV; i.e. the TV was not visible from the bed, the room being somewhat L-shaped. 

A keycard is necessary to access the elevator or to enter the stairwell from the ground floor.

Thanks @LOTTELLEE WINNA for another great review.   You inspired me to have a good look at it on Agoda,  so I will just add a few observations for the aid of us older and more arthritically challenged types.

On the plus side

• Power outlet next to bed for your CPAP machine
• Walk-in shower
• Desk with power outlet and (looks like) comfortable chair

Negatives

• No armchair or sofa in room (unless you book the "Premier" room option)
• No staircase entry to pool - ladders only

Known unknowns

• Safe looks too small for a laptop, but I can't really tell.

Yes mate, the safe is ok for an iPad, but no more.

Yes mate - large underground car park underneath hotel…correction…I’m thinking about hotel Amber next door. I don’t know about Adelphi.

PS. Just looked at TripAdvisor which says limited parking available at Adelphi.

Yes, the Adelphi does have a private car park located on the left side, access is from the road and is signed.

Loved the rooftop pool at the Adelphi.  Caught the sun all day and great views of Pattaya, plus decent sun loungers. 

Definitely better than the pool at Sleep with Me around the corner.

Having said that, I did prefer the rooms at Sleep with Me, which were bigger and mostly quieter (I heard my neighbours much more at the Adelphi).
