Hi Everyone,

I wonder if anyone knows any Driving Schools in Pattaya area which teach Scooter riding lessons for Farangs.

I contacted Pattaya Advanced Driving School but they told me that they offer scooter lessons only to Thais not Farang (?!?!)

Thank you very much !

PS I did read all the posts in regards to getting a Thai Driving licence - this is NOT what I'm after atm - I just want to do some scooter riding lessons.

Pattaya is a dangerous place for an inexperienced rider. IMO

Every hole a goal.

Condoms kill boners. Save the boners.

Stop the Vagilantes.

Maybe they don’t have an English speaking instructor available.

That would be my thought. Driving schools that include Scooters shouldn't be all that difficult to find. Driving schools with staff who speak English (even in Pattaya) would be the challenging part.

My general recommendation, though it doesn't do a thing for anyone already here, is to take a motorcycle safety course and get a motorcycle endorsement in your own country before traveling/relocating to Thailand.

Better to learn to ride a scooter / motorcycle before you get to Thailand, especially a place like Pattaya. And get a good bit of experience beforehand too. That’s just the riding bit, which is actually not that difficult, in my opinion, especially on the modern machines with CVT transmission. If you can ride a bicycle you are well on the way.

However, you should be basically competent before you start to tackle Thai traffic.  The rules of the road are similar to elsewhere, but on Thai roads things get a bit different…… More something that comes with experience than from lessons.

Thank you for all the replies.

Unfortunately the Mityon Driving School in the Greeny video is in Bang Saray not in Pattaya / Jomtien🙄

I think the white baht busses run up and down Sukhumvit, and for a short duration class (1-3 days) there is always a car ride from Grab available. I guess it depends on how interested you are in the class.

I had no experience 4 years ago when I moved here and  taught myself....and learned how to ride the brand new 2018 Honda Click 125 I brought back then.

It was the perfect bike for me to learn on.

I upgraded about a year and half ago to a larger scooter the Yamaha Nmax 155.

Oops, I did not see this topic.... just added a comment to a different thread

'I have a UK DL for cars and bikes, also the IDP, but it has been many years since I was riding a motorcycle, are there any options in Pattaya for a refresher course/instruction for riding these modern small bikes?'

I now assume that it might be possible that more than a few guys would be interested in learning, taking a refresher on these bikes.
