Scroll to first unread post broken

These past two days this feature has stopped working. It takes you to the correct page, but not to the first unread post. Using Chrome and other site's forums are working.

This is a crucial problem, IMO.

It is a little annoying. Works in some cases, though. But a little random where the page jumps to :)

Just bumping this thread now that the server update is finished and the Clear Notifications link has been fixed.

Scroll to unread post still does not work on android chrome (mobile mode) when opening multiple posts in the background/another tab. You are always taken to the top of the page which contains the most recent unread post. Other sites, SEA related, as well as music, photography, etc. do not exhibit this bug.

Thanks!

As of today, on my phone, Scroll to Uread replies IS WORKING!

Don't know if the forum crew fixed it or Android Chrome, but thank you, thank you to whomever. 🙏🙏🙏

Of course now I'll get fatter because I'll be doing even fewer clicks. 😂

What I think is that it works, but if you get impatient and scroll at all, that cancels it.  It can also get spoofed by lots of pics on a thread and land you in the wrong place.

I've found going to first unread works if you only select a few unread topics at a time.

My habit is to view the list of unread topics and select those I'm interested in by right clicking on each to open in a new tab. When I go to each of the new tabs, the first couple will correctly display the last unread post, but after those couple the rest land on random posts in the last unread page.

This started happening several months ago after one of the software upgrades, but I haven't reported the issue as it's easy enough to just jump to the bottom of the unread page and then scroll back to the first unread post marked with the vertical blue line and the text "Unread replies".

Very much this. Embedded vids even worse. Minor annoyance really.

I never thought to do this, maybe because I'm boring and predictable.  :)

Depending on how the software does the "last unread" feature, I would guess this is because new posts have been uploaded since you opened the new tab, either to the topic in the new tab, or to the entire board.

Yes, that is what I do on mobile. Until yesterday, I'd be lucky to get one to scroll at all. And yes, I'd wait if it hadn't loaded fully in the background. I choose 30-50 topics at a time so I have that many tabs open.

Now, as I close each tab, the next one will load and snap to the Unread replies almost instantly; regardless of the number of images. Hurray!

I did get a monthly update on my two identical Samsung phones a couple days ago, maybe that did it.

My method of selecting multiple topics of unread posts in new tabs works fine in two other forums, one of which is 247. As the sister forum to PA it has undergone the same software updates. My guess is the huge difference in the size of the DB of posts on PA is causing the problem here.

Also, on the two other forums, any new posts that come in before I open the tab to read new posts don't interfere with the proper loading of the topic. Same as if you're reading a topic and new posts come in, there will be a message at the bottom of the page indicating there are new posts to be read, with the option to select to read them.

A very good possibility.

Fails intermittently, not specific threads, just random. Using PC here.
