Phi phi 2022

I have been told , not sure how reliable source that phi phi is having a problem with waste and smells coming from sewage disposal. Is this right or just another rumour to add to Thailands woes. Thinking about a February 2023 trip need to know the facts from anyone know what Phi Phi is like currently

Where have you heard this ?

There are problems with smells all over Thailand to be fair 

If it was anything major, I'm sure there would have been much more said. As it is, this is the first I've heard about any problems

If you're planning a visit in 5 months time, I would just go ahead & carry on with your plans

The article above is 6 1/2 years old to be fair  , but yes there has always been an issue with waste water treatment on the islands to be fair, its not a new problem, but one that began with mass tourism decades ago

In Tonsai, Phi Phi, the waste water treatment plant was being completely rebuilt earlier this year when I was on Phi Phi for a week in January.

No idea if the work is finished yet, but I assume that it will have a much higher capacity for treating waste water, than the old one did
