Jomtien: Bor Bua Klangjai

Recommended Posts

We went to a Thai restaurant that was new to me for lunch today. The TGF's sister wanted to get a few of us together.

It is in Jomtien off of Sukhumvit. If you are heading North from Boon Kachana it will be on the left side of the street about 1 km before Makro. Look for a pink sign and it is about 1/2 km on a side road off of Sukhumvit. It does show on Google Maps and I would advise using Ms Google.

https://www.google.com/maps/place/BOR.+BUA+KLANGJAI/@12.8942592,100.8966731,15z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0xf594329f32bc52bd!8m2!3d12.8942585!4d100.8966731

To describe the place in one word it would be pleasant. There are a number of small huts where you can sit with some friends and look over the really nice landscaping.

Some pics:

BTW - I live in Thailand and enjoy spicy food, but the Gai Krapow had my eyes watering a little.

Great find

Thanks - like I said be a little careful with the peat factor here my man. Even the TGF sat back for a moment when she tasted my dish. Also the pink sign on Sukhumvit is in Pasathai, not English.

Service was excellent. Since some of the huts are a little far from the kitchen. There is a buzzer in the hut (not obvious) that one pushes for service. On my one visit, most of the customers were Thai and the menu reflects this.

This is going on the list for my next visit. Is it a busy place? Does it need a booking to get a hut?

Thanks for the heads up, always appreciate your food recommendations ChiFlyer.

We went for lunch and no reservation was required. The place was not at all busy at that time. I am not sure if the same is true for dinner, but I suspect that is also true. All tables are the huts.

This looks really nice, I will definitely check out the restaurant on my next visit. I like it quite when you can enjoy a bit of privacy while eating and there the small huts offer themselves of course.

Another great recommendation from our favorite FoodCritic, ChiFlyer. Not at all visible from the streets, you need to be In The Know to find it. Yes I agree, good food and good atmosphere, you and your Thai lady would enjoy it.

Thank you, but ....

I would prefer to leave the "Favorite Food Critic" title with @Evil Penevil . Perhaps we can be members of a virtual committee.

I went for lunch today me and my friend Kung. I had the krapow moo sab which you can see in the video. Also had crispy fried chicken with fish sauce. That's slices of moo, rice and a bowl of noodles Kung had. The presentation of the food was quite nice.

To me and her the food was just okay....nothing special! I've had much better krapow moo sab. The portion was also small! Would I order it again probably not, would I go back again...maybe!

The atmosphere and setting is very nice. Staff was pleasant and helpful. My bill was 646฿.

It's not far from where I live.

I agree that the quality of the food is not the main reason for going here. The ambiance and service level are. At the same time the food is decent enough IMO.

btw - cute looking GF. Maybe you said already, but did she like the place? Oh, just noticed that she was also luke warm on the food.
