British National killed in motorbike crash

Mr Gavin Mann, a 41-year-old British passport holder, was killed in the early hours of Sunday morning after his motorbike collided head-on with another motorbike ridden by a 41-year-old Thai man along Soi Boonsampan, also known as Soi Khao Noi, in the East of Pattaya. Although Mr Mann was wearing a safety helmet at the time of the accident, the strap on the helmet apparently severed an artery when he came into his unexpected contact with the ground, killing him almost instantly. Witnesses told police Mr Mann was riding very fast and swerving all over the road as if he was intoxicated when he struck the other motorbike ridden by the Thai male. The Thai man has suffered serious injuries and been taken to Pattaya Memorial Hospital. Mr Mann's Thai girlfriend was informed of her paramours demise by mobile phone and was soon on the scene, accompanied by friends.

At this stage police believe Mr Mann was fully responsible for the accident.

Man, life is short...very short. Another reason to enjoy life while you can and try to not take things for granted.

have you seen the pics of the link?

the first remind me of rotten.com o_O

but the pics of the bikes are interesting... they look like almost nothing happened and still a man died... this guy was extremely unlucky :/ maybe this one even had survived if he didn't wear a helmet... how weird is this... :(

the poor guy , again reminds us when renting a bike not just to check out the bike but the helmet too, maybe if that was done up/fitted correctly maybe this guy could be alive. Ialso like the fact that he was blamed for the whole accident.

maybe he'd still be alive he wasn't riding fast and swerving all over the road acting like he was intoxicated! :D

Lucky he didn't take out the Thai guy he ran into as well.

RIP to the guy who died.

gee...the non-thai guy was immediately assumed to be at fault....SHOCKER! LOL.

could be the case, but im guessing even if the thai guy was drunk off his ass and standing on the seat whilst driving cross lanes with his feet...and the brit was on his way home from temple and straight as an arrow...the report would still read it was his fault...probably a lawsuit coming soon.

Either way, RIP.

Cheers, Alex

He lived in my village, right up the soi from me, had just arrived back Friday, this happened Saturday night. From all I have heard, accident clearly his fault, he was quite mau, and the thai guy he hit is in pretty rough shape also. Don't drink and drive here, it's that simple. Sad way to go for sure, but he was dumb, payed the ultimate price.

Things are incredibly dangerous. Especially when drunk, late at night when others are fucking loaded. May as well play Russian Roulette.

Friggin odds of dying young sky rocket when riding those things.
