WSL 2022

Perhaps I’m not the only BM (or maybe I am, 555) who is interested in the World Surf League 2022 that’s kicked off today at Pipeline in Hawaii. 

10 events this year, in 7 countries around the world. Looking at the schedule I noticed an event in El Salvador which I think is new. Australia has the traditional Bells at Easter and then onto Margaret River (if they’re be able to get in otherwise it might go to Kirra), hopefully they’ll get the Tahiti event in this year then Finals again at Lower Trestles in Cali, USA.

Day 1 and there’s a fantastic swell with perfect waves and some tube great rides. I think I’ll watch it all day.

Just watched the Jack Robinson / Kelly Slater heat, absolutely brilliant. 
 

To think this is 50yr old (in Feb) Slater’s 29th year on the CT, I don’t think there’s another pro athlete on the planet in any sport that has had the longevity of Kelly. People through around the GOAT tag a lot but Kelly truly is, nearest comparison I can make would be Brady.

Slater wins Pipeline for the 8th time, 30 yrs since his first win there. 
 

The guy competes against others nearly 30yrs his junior, truly amazing.
