See countless people riding around on motorbike helmetless or bikes loaded up with the whole family on board including babies, but hey it's OK at least they are all wearing facemasks, even though that is completely pointless while outside speeding round on a bike.

the road death toll on a  day to day basis throughout the year does not actually change much. it's high. very high. but twice a year at new year and thai new year in april they declare "dangerous days" clamp downs road checks etc etc. it is the trick of a magician to distract folks from what happens almost every day of the year by pretending it's only in these 2 periods.

To expand a bit on that, on most of these "dangerous days" in past years the butcher's bill has actually been lower than the daily average during the rest of the year.

To a low income family living day to day a motorbike is a blessing. They do not have the income to have helmets, insurance, etc. It is fine for superior thinking farangs to criticize them with no idea of what they go through. The motorbike takes them to school and work and brings groceries home. They did not know it was a problem until the Farangs  arrived to tell them they needed  helmets, ins. etc.  Jesus! It is a wonder they do not shoot us on sight.

Going a bit overboard there. Bit of a silly statement really.
