AVIF & HEIC File Converter program for Windows PC

Hi, I'm on an old version of Windows and I can't open the new AVIF or HEIC images. I know there are online converters to jpg but can anyone recomend a program (preferably free, but I'm prepared to pay for a good one) that I can load onto my PC? I really want one that will do batch conversions.

If you could also point me to the site for a virus free download of the software that would be very much appreciated.

Both free and both work well, I am using them in WIndows 10/11 aswell

if you just want to view them: i like nomacs lounge (newer version supports avif)  as an image viewer for all image files. imho much better than the built in windows tools.

you could probably set up a batch conversion with GIMP or use https://imagemagick.org/index.php , but it's probably outside of your comfort zone to set up properly... i didn't look into any "easy tools", i assume they exist somewhere online though. if necessary, post again and i can see if i find something else.
