They were up in arms a few years ago when Bill Gates posted pics of "spaghetti" wiring. Mr Prayut took great offence and ordered it sorting out. As always it was just a smokescreen, nothing got gone. 

In fairness to the authorities its gone on so long that fixing it all i.e. underground cabling, will simply be too expensive to be anything but a very very long term project.

As to the Thai netizens being up in arms - 90% of those I have ever mentioned it too simply think the rest of the world is the same.
