Don't think he got close to any arriving tourists did he?

Would be a bit of a blow to jump through all those hoops, only for the Prime Minister to infect you, on your arrival.

More than a few stood right beside him for a few photos upon arrival.

Well he proved his point. On the first day the filthy foreigners arrived, he contracted covid! :Laugh1:

There were returning Thais on the flight and they seemed to be the ones getting close for photos.

Had the PM been vaxed?

Yes, quite awhile ago. But it's not 100% of course.

Then the inference could be  that he doesn't think they are affective.

vaccines don't save you (fully) from getting infected. i'm sure it's been said a few hundred times on here (and everywhere else) already.

but here again, a mini summary:
- protection against getting infected: between great to moderate depending on virus strain (most recent numbers on delta strain in israel say that even pfizer only gives you 66% protection against infection; but 95% against alpha strain).
- protection against getting symptoms: between great to moderate, depending on virus strain
- protection against getting severly ill: between absolutely great and quite good, depending on strain and what vaccine you got (AZ very good here in general)
- protection against death: awesome (with some question marks about sinovac)
