I,ve heard many reports lately from friends here about the prices in the meat section at BigC extra have gone up drastically...virtually no one is now buying anymore.

Your friends are correct. The Dry age section is not great and when buying a tomahawk for example you pay the Dry Age weight of course but when trimmed to a piece ready to cook the cost is that much more

I have to keep reminding myself its a job :GoldenSmile1:

I use to buy steaks from Big C Extra every month....The cheap charle steaks ran about 330, 340 a kilo.....Now the cheap steaks run about 600-700 a kilo.....Needless to say I don't shop for steaks anymore at Big C Extra.....And like you said I dont see others buying much either..

I try and limit my intake of red meat, but sometimes a carnivore does have to indulge. I do enjoy an occasional Tenderloin and more frequently cook with both Chuck and Sirloin. I would guess that I am a twice a month guy for eating beef. I have found that the prices at both Villa Market and Makro are decent considering the quality that I am getting.

Probably about a range of 400 to 600 depending on the quality of the cut. Again, I purchase these cuts infrequently and am willing to pay up a little for quality.

What is the quality like compared to good Aussie or US prime cuts?

That display is long gone.

Most good beef is imported, Aussie beef is popular and available in Pattaya.
