naa dtaa suay mak mak leiu, ba ow gan ba: your face is beautiful lets go and fuck

naa dtaa suay mak mak leiu, ba ow yet gup khun: your face is beautiful, I want to fuck with you (but “yet” is vulgar word for fuck)

“Ba ow gan Ba" always gets a laugh as they dont expect you to know it. It basically translates as "lets go, lets go" meaning lets go and fuck. Its not vulger like using the word "yet" which i have never learnt how to use properly and i never say.

keun sawan: means heaven. Polite way of saying good fuck or if used with other words can imply wanting sex with them. Best off just saying it during sex and they will laugh at you.

bai ching chong: say when you go for a piss, it will make them laugh as its slang.

 

 

After you mess these up, she will ask:

krai son? who teach you?

And you should reply jokingly, "mer pben kon thai" (my mom is thai)

The majority of time it is like speaking to a 1 year old baby. The older more experienced ones can hold a better conversation, but even then some are stuck for words occassionaly.

20,000 girls in Pattaya

10% can speak English well

20% cant speak any at all

Remaining 70% speak somewhere in between with most being at the bottom end.

That said that means around 2000 can speak English well so you can find them if you are that choosey.

One thing I would suggest you remember - YOU may want a conversation, maybe over a nice meal but in general they dont. Time spent eating and chatting, however nice the restaurant, is viewed as time wasted by most working girls. Indeed the money you spedn on the meal they would rather have in their pockets.

LT really starts when you take them to the hotel and generally finishes after the first shag when you wake up. Obviously there are exceptions but thats a decent rule of thumb.

That means that you are basically sleeping or shagging albeit over around 6 hours as opposed to ST which is around 1 hour.

Given that fact there is not that much time for conversation.

A lot of people, me included, like to sit and chat to the girls in the bars so that is one time when it might be important but once the deal is sealed, conversation would probably be the last thing on your mind.

 

 

Girls in Pattaya are predominantly from the North East (Issaan) and pronounce “r” like “l”. Most Thais pronounce “r” correctly and some roll it a little.

They cant pronounce 'V' either. For "have" they say "hab".

 

Most Thai consonants are pronounciated differently if they are a initial consontant as compared to being a final consonant in a word or syllable!

For instance, J is pronounciated as T as a final consonant, S as T, Y as N, D as T, B as P, L as N and R as N...

Some consonants can only be initial ones and not end a word like; F, W, H...

Thai words that ends with consonants can only have these endings;

Hard ones: K,P,T( although they are soften as end consonants and more sounds like G,B,D) or,

Soft ones: M,N,NG

the letter V doesn't exist in Thai Language and it's closest equivalent W cannot be a final consonant, so the thai peoples closest choice is to use the letter P (soften as B) at the end of the word "Have".

 

If you're using Windows Media Player, you can slow down the playback and listen more carefully. Under the "Play" menu at the top the screen, adjust the play speed.

 

 

 

The "Lonely Planet" does a compact and easy to learn phrase book, with tonemarks, that is very useful!

Best way to learn the tones is to listen to the Thais, and to have someone next to you when you study the books! If you are more serious about learning Thai, it's easier to understand the pronounciation if you try to learn both speaking and writing Thai at the same time!

There are 5 different tones in Thai language, and it's crucial to master them if you want to be fully understood!

The tone rules are dependent on:

1.the class of the initial consonant (the 44 consonants are divided into 3 classes:high,middle,low),

2. word ending with hard or soft consonants long or short vowels

3. what tonemarks are written
