Visa for LT to Eventually work in AUS.

@boingo any comments welcome + other  Australian BM that has=ve been through similar.( FYI marriage not a option for now)

Bit of background.

Waiting for life circumstances to put me somewhere more permanent in around 10 years.

For now

I eventually plan getting a condo with a share in LT name and come and go for many years (most probably on a O-X visa). That’s me sorted i hope.

LT wants to come over and work any suggestions welcome on what process to take.

I was thinking of  a marriage proposal visa and going for a defacto relationship with the condo in both our names. If i start the process when there next  I should be fine in 2 years’ time from now to be in OZ with her on the correct visa.

Thoughts?

So far I tried key visa as many BM have suggested and found him not helpful at all.

Initial email reply from Darren was to arrive on a 3 month tourist visa first to see if she likes it.

In these Corvid times

To get clarity i phoned and he brushed me totally.

All he mentioned is that holiday visa are being issued and did not want to explain or answer my ??s

Is  key visa service just to get the visa and not give stuff on any other matters relating to it.( that's how it felt)

Asking

How I can I actually get her in to the country NOW he replied my other clients have a visa  and didn't not want to take the conversation any further.

Was i correct to ask?   As my thinking is

If I get a tourist visa issued for her, it might expire before she is allowed to travel with it.

Or

I’ll have to fork out for 14 day quarantine and i doubt she will be let in anyhow.

Or

It is a year  year away without quarantine . ?? so again no point in getting it.

I see how the replies come as i am finding it hard to mention all.. As i see the 2 step process of a tourist visa first then next step visa taking over 3 years.

 What would you do?

Ask a silly question and i'll leave a silly answer

Would have been easier if you googled it yourself.

Since you said any comments welcome. What will you do when your LT starts working and doesn't need you anymore? I've seen it happen many times before, especially if there is a huge age difference.

I love the guys that marry a young Filipina hottie, bring her to the US and get her a job as a cocktail waitress at a local casino. The over/under is 6 months before she meets a good looking guy closer to her age, and dumps her husband who has spend 1,000's of USD to bring her over.

My point is, if you let the girls work, your playing with fire.

Is your lady under 30?  If so she can apply for a working holiday visa ( no idea if they are issuing them currently).

Her options for being able to legally work are limited currently and I assume you know the costs and timeframes associated with a partner visa.

Two weeks quarantine is a given for now, but it won’t cost you anything until she actually arrives.

Personally,  I would wait a couple of months and see what happens with international travel.  I know first hand how the current situation sucks - I haven’t seen my Thai wife since June.

Very sound advice - getting a Thai GF a visa for entry into OZ is challenging at the best of times. Now, is not the best of times.

Accept the reality - there are strict travel restrictions for entry into  OZ even fo OZ citizens/residents. My advice as a lawyer with immigration experience, postpone your  travel plans until the restrictions are lifted.

Hi @talung66welcome to the roller coaster 555. Will reply further when I have a bit more time. Initial advice is that the work side will be tough as a tourist visa will have a no work condition so step carefully. Visa agents have basically been told that partner visas within Thailand are next to impossible for them to process. Oz govt currently has 26-28 months processing times within Oz. Yes I would go for the tourist option when travel settles.

Gather  i walked it to that.

Without explaining my whole life story that involves  an elderly parent.

Work is so she not home all day as i dont do any. I am more likely to leave her in Australia when the time comes. If she doesn't want to live in Thailand.

Thanks for the feedback  pretty sure buy the time travel is allowed she will be over 30 so that out.

I have a fair understanding of cost and time frames. But not off procedures and policies and what to apply for.

For now i just want to gather info +  documents  to put a case together + get her a passport and put that into an application in the future.

Cheers i got a lot of time  at the moment

Look like it the route to go down holiday route  first

To  try for something more permanent later  to gain some cred in the partnership.

i'll have to explain this to her  as that will take it to close to 4 years  my mum might cark it buy then.

Arrived a number of times on the 600 sub class and we did the Partner Visa Sub Class 820. Far easier to do with Oz but she will need a raft of documents from Thailand so try to get them there far easier than from here. Immigration website simply states global processing time of 26-28 months. Around $7800 if you do it yourself $14k via an agent

But it will be spread out a bit.  We haven’t gone down the partner visa route yet, even though we’re married, purely because my wife has commitments in Thailand (and farms we both love) and I have work that precludes us living in either country full time atm and I can do better things with the money.

The usual visa processing times are on the immigration website and they’re pretty accurate.

Personally,  if you’re basically computer literate, don’t waste your money on an agent.  Plenty of information is available online and from fellow fine upstanding BM’s ( even if some do live in Qld)...

Feel free to pm anytime.

Thanks

i think i start collecting stuff soon i got a year  just some recon for now .( i only want this  a defacto relationship)

next time i am there ill have to get a list of stuff to gather

I had a quick look at the subclass 820 https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/partner-onshore/temporary-820

is this how it works it the way i read it

Arrive on a subclass 600  and apply for a subclass 820 and while the application is taking process she can work live and travel . That will suit me.

I read somewhere there are  2  different types of subclass 600 visas and one you can't apply for another  visa in OZ

look like a bit of info here i'll have to try the links.

Cheers
