Valentine's Day at Cherry's on Third

More pics than words as Engrish is not my first language...

 

Cherry's Restaurant on Third is directly across from The Juke Box Karaoke which is right beside Xzyte Disco. There is outdoor seating as well as two indoor sections. Motorbikes can park in the front, but cars need to be parked by the rear entrance. We made reservations for 6:30 due to a later obligation that night. I'm glad we did as every table in the building was filled between 7:00 and 7:30. We left a ฿500 deposit for the reservation (more on that later).

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

They were offering a set Valentine's Day menu (฿459/person), or their usual buffet. We chose the set menu.

 

 

 

 

 

There is a limited wine list available, with prices about double what it costs in the market. The most expensive bottle I saw was about ฿1,500 (I think). You can also bring your own and pay a reasonable corkage charge of ฿200, which is what we did.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Now on to the food

 

In addition to the set menu we ordered a Scallop appetizer (I forget the name) and some Garlic Bread

Lemon Grass Sherbet

 

 

 

The main courses:

 

My lady had the Pan Fried Snow Fish

 

 

 

And I had the Kobe Rump Steak

 

 

 

And just in case anyone is wondering, this is what a perfectly cooked steak should look like (other restaurants take note!)

Overall the food was excellent. The portions seemed small at first, but I was quite full when finished. I didn't have rice with the meal so I had to eat again two hours later though... The total bill was around ฿1,500 I think. As I mentioned before, I left a ฿500 deposit with the reservation, but when we went to the restaurant, I left my slip of paper at home. When it came time to pay the bill, I forgot I left the deposit and paid the bill in full. All in all a great value for the food and a great place to spend Valentine's Day with someone special.

 

I must also mention the staff. When we arrived, there was only one other table seated due to the early hour. Before the rush started, we were doted on by all members of the staff, including both managers. As the restaurant got busier, we didn't get as much attention (as it should be), but at no time did I feel like I was in a restaurant that was filled to capacity. Our food was prompt and it never took more than a few seconds to flag down a passing server. As our bill was presented, the server didn't hover waiting to see how much of a tip we were leaving (a personal pet peeve of mine). IMO, most restaurants in Pattaya could learn a thing or two from Cherry's.

One of my favourite restaurants in Pattaya. I find the food of a very high standard. Excellent report mate makes me hungry just reading it

This food looks delicious Chuck and the photo's make a good commercial for the restaurant. The food indead seems of a high standard as Alan says.

Loving your restaurant reviews Chuck, very informative and pretty accurate, been to Cherrys and thought the quality of the food was excellent, second only to Casa Pascals, though it is cheaper at Cherrys, so a bit better value all in.
