Options out of the mid west?

Good evening guys, this is my first ever post!! There is always loads of information regarding flights out of California to the LOS but I am curious of members advice regarding flying out of the mid west ie.. Detroit, Chicago. Is it more practical to hop a flight to the west coast first of attempt to fly from a local airport. again thank you for any info.

There are 1 connection options out of ORD. I don't know about Detroit

you have nothing to gain by catching a flight to the coast first. chicago is a bigger hub i believe than detroit. i just checked w/sidestep. chicago-bkk-946.00, sfo-bkk-873.00

do sidestep and try different cities. i found that it was cheaper to fly out of milwaukee than chicago, i live in mke, so makes no sense flying from mke to ord to bkk cheaper than ord to bkk.. makes no sense..

Korean and Asiana seem to consistently have the best fares from ORD. At least since I have been tracking them.
