parachutes were up today friday.

yesterday they were suspended following an incident with a tourist dropping into the water. about 5 years ago they lost an indian woman on honeymoon when she dropped in, the speedboat doubled back to get her, snagged the lines with the prop and pulled her head first into the propeller.

saturday morning and a look out the window says no parachutes today. the bigger ferries to koh larn still working but no small stuff out there. entirely arbitrary decision i've seen worse conditions where it's business as usual.

spoke to my mate who watched the mid morning thursday event which precipitated the "crisis" and the small speedboat towing the parachute could not make progress against the wind to return the passenger to the platform. in the end they sent 2 more boats to under his position then managed to gently drop him in the water next the 2 ad-hoc rescue craft
