8 Essential Smart Luggage Trackers for Your Next Trip
Emma Roth  June 21, 2019

You’ve been waiting at the airport’s baggage carousel for several minutes, and you still don’t see your luggage. As more time passes, other passengers collect their luggage and leave. Soon, you’re the sole remainder, and the reality that your bag has been lost begins to set in.

It’s best to avoid this nightmare scenario altogether. With these luggage trackers, you’ll at least have an idea of where your luggage has been lost, and you can take the appropriate steps to recover your missing bags.

1. Spytec Portable Tracker
https://www.amazon.com/Tracker-Tracking-Vehicles-Equipment-Valuables/dp/B07S7DVT33

Insert the Spytec Portable Tracker into your suitcase before you travel, and you’ll have access to your luggage’s location at all times. You have to pay $24.95 per month for the tracking services, but you can cancel as soon as your trip ends. It has a battery life of two weeks, so you won’t have to worry about losing track of your luggage.

View the location of your bag on Google Maps. With updates every five seconds, you can constantly stay updated in case your bag never makes its way to the carousel.

2. Vozni Smart Bluetooth Tracker
https://www.amazon.com/VOZNI-Bluetooth-Keychain-Wireless-Replaceable/dp/B07HFJ418M/

You can attach the Vozni Smart Bluetooth Tracker to your suitcase, or simply insert it into your bag—its keychain-style design makes it viable to use either way. The tracker connects to your phone via Bluetooth and allows you to track your luggage from your smartphone.

The Vozni Tracker works the other way around as well. If you lose your phone, but not your tracker, you can sound your phone by pressing the alarm button on the tracker.

3. ReturnMe Luggage ID Tag
https://www.amazon.com/Luggage-Lifetime-Global-Recovery-Service/dp/B07574KNHG

The ReturnMe Luggage ID Tag ensures the swift recovery of your lost bag. This metal tag comes with a steel-braided cord, so don’t expect it to break after only a couple of uses. It also comes with your own unique ID number. That way, you won’t have to put any revealing information on your luggage tags.

If someone finds your bag, they’ll contact a ReturnMe agent, and give them your ID number. ReturnMe will then deliver your bag from its location. You also have the option of adding overnight shipping and a baggage recovery specialist for an additional fee, but the other services are free of charge.

4. Dynotag Smart Luggage ID Tag
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KPIOR2Y

The Dynotag Smart Luggage ID Tag is another great option if you want a battery-free way of keeping tabs on your luggage. This steel, weatherproof tag can last in any condition. Each tag contains a QR code that’s unique to you.

Simply activate your tag on Dynotag’s website, create an account, and add your information. When someone finds your bag, they can scan the tag’s QR code with their phone. As soon as a person scans the code, you’ll receive a notification that someone has found your bag. The QR code will redirect the finder to a private web page that has all the information they need to return your luggage.

5. GEGO Luggage Tracker
https://www.amazon.com/GEGO-Global-Smart-Tracker/dp/B07F47YCYS

Place the GEGO Luggage Tracker into your suitcase before your big trip, and you’ll have peace of mind when checking your luggage at the airport. This tracker allows you to keep a constant watch on your luggage. You’ll have to pay $6.33 per month for the 3G tracking services, but it comes in handy in case you actually end up losing your valuables.

Once you place the tracker inside your suitcase, download the GEGO app, and access the location of your bags on a map. Opt to set a safe zone, which will provide you with alerts if your luggage moves out of a specific area. It also will let you know when you get close to your bag.

6. Tile Pro
https://www.amazon.com/Tile-Pro-Replaceable-Battery-Black/dp/B07GLXZMR2

You’ll notice that the Tile Pro works similarly to the Vozni Smart Tracker. Attach the Tile Pro to your suitcase, and download the app. If you can’t find your suitcase but know it’s nearby, hit the alarm button on the app to prompt your Tile to ring. Just keep in mind that the ringing only works if your bag is within 300 feet. Conversely, you can also press the button on your Tile to find your phone.

In the event that your suitcase has been lost during transit, you still have a chance of finding it. The large community of Tile users can use their own apps to help you find your lost luggage if they happen to be close by.

7. Trak-4 GPS Tracker
https://www.amazon.com/Trak-4-Mobile-Tracker-Tracking-Vehicles/dp/B0753LC2DQ

You won’t have to worry about the Trak-4 GPS Tracker running out of juice any time soon, as it lasts a whopping 18 months on one charge. You can place the Trak-4 Tracker inside your luggage and get real-time location updates sent to your phone. This 3G tracking feature is available from $5.99 per month.

Trak-4’s service only works in the United States, so it’s not ideal if you’re headed outside of the country. Like the GEGO Tracker, you can also set a specific safe zone on the corresponding app. This will provide you with any alerts if your luggage gets carried out of a predefined zone.

8. Amcrest GPS Tracker
https://www.amazon.com/Amcrest-AM-GL300-Portable-Real-Time-Vehicles/dp/B019ZT5DY4/

You can use the Amcrest GPS Tracker anywhere that supports 2G. However, the price of the Amcrest GPS Tracker’s subscription services depends on how often you want the location of your luggage updated. Once you sign up for a plan, you can track the real-time location of your luggage from your smartphone, Mac, or PC.

It also comes with some additional features on the app and website that allow you to view custom tracking reports. You can also use geo-fencing to receive notifications when your bag leaves or enters a certain area. This mini tracker fits right into your suitcase, and won’t weigh your bag down on your next trip.

Here's an idea:  only take carry-on.  One of the worst ways to start your holiday is with lost luggage.  Even if you have a tracker on the luggage, you still don't have your luggage.  You may know where it is, but you're powerless to retrieve it.  No matter if my holiday is a few days or a few months, I only take carry-on.  Laundry is cheap in Thailand and nobody cares/notices if you wear the same shirt from a few days ago, as long as it's clean.

I am using Vozni Smart tracker maybe around 1.5 year. Works just awesome and really protects my luggage probably more than 10 times. What I like on that tracker that it have movement alert so you can use that function when want some nap on airports :D
