I was just getting ready to book my flight for Jun/Jul and noticed that the time on the LAX/BKK flight was longer than I remembered....did a little research and came up with this for those that didnt know...

 

Mods, move this if i put it in the wrong spot.

 

 

Thai Airways will be discontinuing BKK-LAX nonstops and will instead restart the old routing of BKK-KIX-LAX from March 31, 2009 forward amid cost-cutting measures.

 

This new routing will use the Boeing 777-200ER, for its lower cost. The new flight numbers assigned to this route are TG797 & TG796 (LAX-KIX-BKK & BKK-KIX-LAX, respectively), and departure times will revert back to the old routing schedule: a midday departure from LAX and an early morning departure from BKK.

 

Thai Airways has announced that it is trying to sell its fleet of four Airbus A340-500 aircraft, but has not had any luck in doing so due to the current economic crisis and the generally weak market for an aircraft which consumes so much fuel.

That sucks. Was that the last non-stop you could get from the US? Probably better in the Travel and Transportation section.

AGAIN????? that sucks

 

I flew EVA at Xmas and hated it compared to LAX-BKK Direct they canceled it in the Fall then brought it back right before I left

 

I was just discussing it with someone today that Thai Airways direct from the Left Coast is the only way to go.....

 

do n ot like the sounds of those departure hours

I think there is a san francisco to bangkok non stop...at least there was a year ago.

The trip to LOS for those of us here in America sucks now without the direct flights on Thai. It is a LONG journey to get there and back.

It looks like Thai has decided to continue the nonstop flight. From March 29 on.....depart LAX at 23:10 arrive BKK 06:40 + 2 days. Return departs BKK 19:20 and arrives LAX at 21:25. The following is posted on their website:

 

THAI AIRWAYS now offers continued Non-Stop service between Los Angeles (LAX) and Bangkok (BKK) and beyond 4 days per week, flying TUE/THU/FRI/SUN.

 

TG795 / TG794 operates using A340-500 aircraft configured for 60 seats in Royal SIlk Business Class, 42 seats in Premium Economy Class, and 113 seats in Economy Class

They cut it from NYC a few months ago as well, i go on Cathay now and the layover is a killer!
