First time in Koh Chang, info needed.

Hi all!

First time going to Koh Chang in Dec/Jan, pretty excited! as I've never been there. 

I've been reading online that White Sand beach is pretty dead nowadays and Lonely Beach took over as party central. I'm pretty sure I'll be staying there as I do like to party with the tourists/backpacker crowds as well (I'm still in my early 30s and it's always nice to pick up a Swedish girl once in a while  ).  It also seem it's in LB that you can party the longest where as WS Beach will be dead by 2.

But I've got a few questions on the girly/beer bars scene.

• Are they still all in White Sand Beach?
• Are there Beer Bars in Lonely Beach area as well?
• Are there freelancers in the bar clubs of LB (Himmel/TingTong bars)
• How far by motorbike is White Sand from Lonely? Could I start my night in WS and finish in LB without too much effort? 
• How's the nightlife in WS beach? Is it only families/old couples now?

Cannot comment on WSB, but I visit lonely beach on regular basis.
It's very laid back and yes, many couples there and a huge backpacker scene.
There are some girly bars on the main road but nothing to write home about. 10-12 bars in a group.
I like to get away from Pattaya for a few days, and Lonely Beach does it for me.

my info is from 2018, but afaik nothing has changed since then. there are a few threads on here about koh chang, i suggest you read them all. 

- you have girlie bars in WSB, yes. there are 2 other places ("walking street" at kai bae and one other area, don't remember, both are smaller than the bar area in WSB)

- afaik no beer bars in lonely beach

- some freelancers go partying / looking for customers later at night (or partying with customers later at night) at lonely beach. 

- white sand beach to lonely beach is ~13km. but it has extremely steep parts and the road is sometimes in terrible condition. personally, i would NOT ride a motobike yourself unless you are an experienced bike rider. and even if you are, don't ride it by night and don't ride it drunk. it's a terrible idea and could easily kill you or lead to a bad accident. if you need transport, hop on a songthaew. afaik they also ride during the night. i guess it takes maybe 30-40 minutes? but i never took one myself, don't know for sure. i think google should help you out. 

- nightlife in WS beach is ok. it's mostly the one big cluster of beer bars, but that's fun if you like beer bars and some pool etc... easy atmosphere. of course you won't find (or it's very unlikely that you find) an incredible stunning super gogo girl in there, but i had fun and was happy with the girls. there was no nightclub left in 2018 in WSB.

we go quite regular on the Scooters, I love to get away from pattaya from time to time,,  and the island is the best place ever, it has so much to offer all round, if you go out exploring on your bike all day you will find stunning beaches either side of island. the nightlife is good but I find it a bit quiet early on , it seems to get busier later on at night,  plenty of bars all the way down from wsb to ws for more of the girly scene, but need transport , I have never rode further than ws at night as its a fair way down and very dark, but am sure it is great if your staying that end, I keep planning to stay that end but never get round to it,   you can go eat in many of the resorts and they have fire shows on beach and bands , it`s great. you need to get out and see all the island really . I couldn't just stay in one area for a week without seeing much, that`s why I never get bored of going ,, its a pretty unspoilt island really and very laidback, don't get hassled by police , all round top place to visit,  be back there within a month,55555555

The most girlie bars are i whitesands, then chai chet then kai bae. so the best place will be furthest away from you. To start your night(sober) and look round whitesands might be an idea and work your way back to lonely beach not getting too smashed as you have to go up over and down the mountain from kai bae to lonely beach.

That time of year it will be busy(kai bae is a nightmare to drive through very narrow road). girls might be a bit more eager to go to lonely knowing there will be more people there. the only other alternatives for partying are if you like rock/metal music in which oodies, sabay bar and rockbar in whitesands will meet your needs.

lonely beach is dance music central and mojito and filou(kai bae) can be a good night out also if busy. i would maybe visit a few whitesands bars early say your goodbyes get a line id and tell them your going to lonely beach, might spur them on to come down there. there maybe 1 or 3 beer bars in lonely beach but not sure where

And please if your a novice on motorbikes koh chang is the last place on earth you want to try to learn. seriously just do not bother. even in February i heard the ambulance once a day. its a sure fire way to fuck up a holiday

Cheers for the tips (and the above posters as well).

It's pretty spot on and I will follow the advice of starting the night early in WS Beach and slowly working my way down to LB. 

As for the driving, I'll be extra careful, just came back from a 1200km road trip in Vietnam, I know all too well how scary SE roads can be.

Same prices as Pattaya beer bars. If you go to the beer bar complex on White Sands Beech, try the Blue Lagoon bar. English owner who is a great host. 18 months ago, hooked up with 2 girls there, one a really chunky girl but massive fun, and one smaller but the perfect chunky monkey for me called May.

Unfortunately you won't find May there now. Walked into the Empire bar (Darkside) last year and was greeted by May! Didn't last long there so maybe she has gone back to Koh Chang. Great girl if you can find her.
