I stayed here a total of seven nights and was really happy with it.

I booked on Agoda as usual and arrived there in the afternoon by baht bus from the bus terminal via Bangkok, the driver knew the place well and was eager to have a chat to me as I sat up front with him. On the way we chatted about his work taking busloads of tourists to different hotels and how the Chinese and Korean tourists often don’t even know their hotel names when they arrive at the terminal. After a brief drive around the city, arrived at the LK Empress

The hotel itself faces the sea at the back of an Italian restaurant, a really convenient location and easy to walk anywhere or take the bus to Walking Street etc. There are three entrances, the main one by the check in desk, a side elevator via the restaurant and a door through the back of the convenience store on the ground floor. This made it easy to meet girls (by the Family Mart) who I had already lined up on TF. You could also easily sneak them in through the store, if you wanted a party with a couple of girls and not get an extra charge. Whilst I did thoughtlessly walk a couple of girls in through the back door I would always get them to drop their ID in future.

After being escorted by the enthusiastic doorman upstairs, the room was great. The decor is definitely not subtle, with gold leaf on everything, making it more akin to a Trump Tower- Liberace themed nightmare, but it was a comfortable room. I got the deluxe room which had a large bathtub but no sea view or anything. It was always nice bringing girls back there and they seemed happy.

The facilities were fine across the hotel. The pool is small but acceptable with a view of the sea. There was a gym I used a few times with a small weights machine and some cardio machines, but it was insanely hot there, even with the aircon on. Breakfast was adequate but not really worth it, just a few western dishes and mostly Thai food, which I preferred to eat at night. Every morning a German gentleman had his Aussie friend along for breakfast and would sit around on his cell phone boasting of how he is getting a free breakfast because his friend was there. Whatever floats your boat I guess.

I had few problems at all, the place definitely needs a little updating. One elevator was broken throughout the week I was there, which led to a TF girl I met complaining about hiking three floors in her heels. The WiFi connection broke several times, though the hotel staff came to reset the router promptly.

Would I stay there again? Most likely as it’s definitely a nice place, but overall I think it would be better value for money in a residence type hotel with a bit more freedom. What did you guys think of the LK Empress?

These hotel reviews take a a lot of work so thank you for a nice write up.

I love the location no doubt but have always given a pass since I like my rooms in the 1,000-1,600 range (I'm a low season visitor)

I stayed there last February at a very good rate and echo the posters review. However the rate was way too high this year and I booked the Page 10 hotel instead at about 1600 Bhat breakfast included.

I want to find some good hotels in the 1500 baht region near the beach for my next visit. I also heard the @mind residence is good but not sure.

Thanks for the feedback I’ll post about the other places I stayed in

Oh good, soi 10 is one of my favourite areas accommodation wise so i`ll find this interesting.

I`ve stayed at one of its sister hotels `see me spring too`, and i liked it there.

It’s great you are doing this, wish more would. Great to get feedback on hotels and guesthouses in Pattaya. I have stayed in the Empress a few times and enjoyed it, never stayed in See Me Spring, so look forward to your report.

  • 1 month later...

I stayed at Empress last April.  The hotel overall was ok but the deal killer for me was that the bed was terrible.  It would move and squeak with just me on it, and it was way worse with two.  For a play in Pattaya you think that woudn't be an issue.  I did ask for another room but nothing was available that weekend so I cannot confirm if this was an isolated incident.

stayed here 3 times. hotel is nice and great location but WiFi is awful.

Never managed Breakfast.

Last time i was charged twice for stay but did not find out till some weeks later and despite contacting them i have not had a reply or refund. Wont stay again due to this.

hotel itself is OK. I paid 2600Baht for a King Studio room

I think most of the infrastructure is fucked up, that leaves only the great location. I feel they need to cut down the rates at least during low season.

Living sober, clean and staying away from loose women doesn't make a man live any longer. It just fucking feels like it.

I've been staying at the LK's for years as they used to represent upmarket accommodation at reasonable prices.

Stayed at the Empress when it first opened and was suitably impressed. The King Bed Seafront always was my choice on subsequent visits  though stepped away when they escalated the price.

The exchange rate is killing us, the hotel has become run down and not being managed properly; maintenance issues should be dealt with immediately.

Complain through their website, personally, trip advisor and whoever you booked with, if you're not happy, let them know.

You're here now where you should have been all along.
