Trattoria Toscana

It had been yet another difficult day and by the time we got home it was 5.30pm and we had yet to eat a thing.

Looking at each other I offered my lass the choice of a food stall on Pattaya Klang, (Now, now, it is an exceedingly good food stall and the dishes there are 50 Baht, piset). Leng Kee, also on Pattaya Klang and air conditioned in parts, or the Trattoria where she could also enjoy a glass of wine or two. Her reply was; "do we have to change? or can we go as we are". My reply was that she looked stunning just as she was, (yep I am learning devil.gif ). So with a big smile she said; "lets go get that wine!".

Trattoria is located on beach road just past Soi 6, (I realise none of you will know where that is biggrin.gif ), when heading towards Walking Street. It is a very big place set in gardens with a small waterfall off to the left side. When we arrived the outside tables were already full so we headed inside. As you enter the centre piece is a very large Temperature controlled wine room surrounded by ample seating for a hundred covers, all divided off into smaller areas.

Couple of shots of the inside

There were obviously several large groups booked for the night as many table were reserved, we found a table that suited us and set about ordering our food. They have several glass covered counters where you can view and select various meats and sea food and a real wood burning Pizza oven. The menu is written in large enough script that you are not seeking more light or your reading glasses, which always please me.

We decided to share our starters, so we ordered a marinated mixed seafood platter, (me!), baby tomatoes stuffed with raw tuna and some artichokes, (My girls choice), along with some garlic Pizza bread. Not being tied by any conventions the lass requested that we order red wine, I therefore ordered a bottle of; "Quart 4" an Italian wine recommended by the very smooth Italian waiter, (just as they should be  ).

The starters;

We left the ordering of our main courses till after we had eaten the starters, one we like to chat rather than have the food come at us to fast, two we didn't know how hungry we would be. As it was we ended up ordering the same dish, which was Seafood Spaghetti, Ped Ped (Spicy). We also requested that they remove all the shells as opposed to shell on which is the normal. The final dishes were huge, so you need a healthy appetite.

I have also eaten here once and fully endorse the views expressed.

I had a 'simple' pasta with tomato sauce and bruschetta and it was delicious.

My dining companions informed me that the 3 cheese gnocchi is an absolute must (I don't eat cheese though, so cannot pass an opinion)

Great impromptu review. I've enjoyed the food and company there too. The restaurant is set far enough back from Beach Rd that you can't hear the traffic even if sitting outside. Steak lovers be sure to check out the meat selection in the back that can be cut to order.

@ gogo dog, I've only been once, but dinner for four, including three entrees, three appetizers, a bottle of wine, a couple other cocktails and two desserts was about ฿5,000 if I remember correctly.

gogo; what are the prices like there?

No problem mate, it really had been a hard day and I didn't pay that much attention, however from past experience you can eat here from 400 baht to a 1,000 baht + a head depending on what you choose. I seem to remember it being about 500/600 baht a head on this occasion.

They have wine from 975 Baht a bottle up to 27,000 baht a bottle, I am not that knowledgeable about Italian wine so I gave the waiter a price bracket and asked him to recommend one based on our former orders. He Brought a bottle at the very base of the price bracket which was more that acceptable.

Looks like a very nice restaurant... and 600 baht per head is more than a fair price!!!

had an afternoon there with the lads (about 8 of us) the food was fantastic, real good Italian fare. We had about 5 hours there taking our time between courses and drinking freely and from what I remember we had about 6 bottles of wine and loads or peroni and it wasnt more than a 1000 a head, which for the time we were there was really good value

This is the second time I've went that I forgot to take pics after the appetizers as I was too busy eating. :D

Dinner for five (three apps, four main dishes, wine, cocktails, desert, after dinner Amaretto, and Lemoncella) was ฿5,000 including tip. Service was great as usual.

I tried it over Xmas and was well impressed, I had only ever been to his old place in Soi Zero, which was also very good.

Not the cheapest place but you are paying for what you get.

Had many meals here and they have all been good to very good. Seafood spaghetti dish is huge, love their lasagna, salads always fresh, enjoyed their pizza. Wines reasonably price I personally love Amarone which is fairly expensive in the stores and they have 2 different ones here at 2300 a bottle which I think is great in a restaurant. Food is very reasonably priced too. Highly recommend.
