Royal Cliff Grill Room

About 15 years back I was a semi-regular in Bangkok and Pattaya. Back in the day Pattaya pretty much started and ended with Walking Street as far as I was concerned. My idea of a good restaurant was the Sportsman's Pub. Slow forward.

In 2016, after having been away from Thailand for 15 years, I retired and came to Jomtien for a 3 week vacation. I was wowed by the quality of available restaurants. I began collecting a list of places to try and also those that I liked. I became aware of the Royal Cliff Grill Room, but up until last Sunday had not tried it.

First off - this is not cheap eats. The bill for two with only 1 carafe of wine came to 4500 baht with tip. There is a dress code as well, but it is basically no shorts and a shirt with a collar.

I am not including any decor pics as the ones at the web site are very good and accurate as well

I like the place. What's not to like? I will probably not make it here very often, as it is a little too over the top for my tastes. If you want to check out the hotel, I suggest visiting the Sunset Bar at about 4:30. You might not get a table for the sunset any later than that.

Here are some pics.

Sunday seems like a good night if you want to try The Grill Room. Only about 5 couples there. 5 tour buses were arriving at the hotel as we left, so not sure what the rest of the week might be like.

Was the first hotel I stayed at in Pattaya, not guest friendly back then (2002), you had to pay 500 Baht Guest Joiner Fee.

All the restaurants in the hotel were very good but expensive for Thailand.

Also full of Asian honeymoon couples... Used to get the odd look of disapproval from the loved up couples, happier now to stay in some 3 or 4 star hotel in central Pattaya.
