Your favourite Indian Restaurant in Pattaya

Recommended Posts

To be honest I haven’t tried a heap of Indian restaurants in Pattaya but my favourite so far is Zaika. (Located on second road not far from soi 13/2). I’ve been going there for about 4 years now.

The Jalfrezi and Madras is bloody amazing.

Nice thick flavoursome Curry’s not like that watery crap you get in most Indian restaurants where I’m from in Australia.

I know Mr Evil has done a review or two before but can anyone recommend another great Indian restaurant and what there favourite dish is...

This was the Jalfrezi, not the best pic as was taken from a screenshot of a vid.

I currently am favoring this place.

Particularly the tangri kebab masala, Afghan tandoor chicken, and aloo gobi but haven't had anything bad there.

It's best when you can speak to the owners though about your preferences rather than the regular waitresses and they aren't always there.

Prices are a little less than Zaika but it's not the cheapest place either.

In my view. Layla is more of an Indian restaurant for Arab tastes. It is very old. I go there for their Egyptian lamb soup with bread in it.

Tried several. Indian By Nature by a significant margin. Not cheap.

I've heard chatter that it's gone downhill. In any case, it really is very expensive.

I see so many around town but i usually just go to the Foodpark in Big C Extra Klang, Indian fella on the left does a nice Chicken curry on rice (no.24) for 90 baht, Nan 40 baht, he's busy most of the day, nice man too. Load of other options

I prefer Thai food when in Pattaya. Try Naklua seafood market. Great for seafood

Possibly. It's nearly a year since my last visit and on that occasion it was excellent as it was on 5 or 6 earlier visits.

Their prices certainly make it a "special occasion" destination.

Thailand is a great place to try real Indian food and not the watered down junk in the West.

Seafood is far better in the West eg in oz its amazing and certainly not something I would touch in Pattaya.

Sadly punters think that the farmed muddy tasting river prawns are from the sea.

You can also check Little India. Small place but good food. Don't miss their samosas. The place is in that complex diagonally opposite Mike of Second Road

I agree that it's good. There are a number of good places.

Right near that place is a relatively new one. I haven't eaten there yet but Indian people I trust say it's one of the best in town.

But notice all the horrible reviews. It's got the same owner as Zaika --

There is a small Soi near the junction of Klang and second road, opposite Linkee restaurant. It has 5 or 6 small Indian restaurants, bet one or tow will be good.

Tikka Centre on Soi Buakhao at top of Soi Honey is my go to place when in Pattaya - normally go once a visit and treat myself to Butter Chicken, Keema Naan and Veggie Pakora.

I'll add to this.   Great little spot.  Never too busy and lower prices than most spots.   Food is always hot and fresh.  Service is timely.   Super close to Areca Lodge/LK Metro area across from Papagoyo Gogo.

It's definitely nothing fancy but for a quick meal of decent quality at a good price it's a nice choice.   Never had a problem with their wifi.   https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g293919-d7910272-Reviews-Little_India_Restaurant-Pattaya_Chonburi_Province.html

I've added Karma and Madras Darbar to my list to check out in a couple weeks.   Thanks for the recs.

Madras Darbar is my favorite so far also.  It is more expensive than a lot of other places but it has the best indian food I have had in Pattaya.  Chicken Chetinad is really good there.  Service usually sucks IMO.  Scared to look in the back and see how clean it is but so far hasn't gotten me sick and I have eaten there probably about 30-40 times.

Here's the thing. Madras Darbar, as the name implies, specialises in South Indian cuisine, likes of Chicken Chettinad. If you're more in the mood for North Indian cuisine like Butter Chicken, Madras Durbar may not be the best option. Layla would probably be better. Layla again would be a good place for Indian breads like nans and rotis because rice is a more staple diet down South. Little India is a good place for East Indian food. Good place for those who love dal (pulses/ lentils). Little Indian is actually owned by a Bangladeshi. India has more than 50 varieties of Biryanis - the very spicy ones you'll get in Madras Durbar is typical South Indian biryani. Classic Mughal Biryani is less spicy and comes with a whole potato. Can't remember the name but atleast one place in Pattaya serves authentic Mughlai Biryani.

So when it comes to Indian food it'll make more sense if you decide what to eat and then where to eat.

Been twice already to Layla this trip and i fully recommend the place with great food, service and inexpensive.

I had 3 popadams with chutneys to start. For main course onion bhaji, Plain Rice, Garlic Nan and butter chicken and a bottle of water for 590 Baht.

I am hoping to go again in the next week if i decide to have another night on Walking Street and will post some pictures of the food.

Enjoy
