Basic But Clean Accomodation

Hi,

After a bit of doubting wether to come to Pattaya over Christmas or not, I booked a ticket to Bangkok for this friday the 19th. Now this is taken care of, I'm looking for accomodation from friday until december 25th.

There's few musts, a clean, safe place is basically the only requirement. Nice to have would be an in room safe, 24 hours security and a nice big breakfast buffet :Bravo1: Ooh, and I don't want to spend a fortune, might need my money for other things... :Chokdee3:

Villa Panalee, looked good on pictures. Anyone stayed there lately? Comments on location, customer care hotel policies and their breakfast buffet?

Jasmine hotel looks decent too, and well priced. Then there's a few guesthouses above pubs that I've spotted that appear to meet the requirement and the 'nice to haves', that is, apart from the breakfast buffet.

Is there a hotel desk at the airport or is it better to take care of this business before leaving home?

You'd get seriously ripped off at the airport desk. Read up a bit on the forums as much as possible to avoid getting gouged at the airport. Changing money is OK but avoid any hotel 'deals' and avoid the taxi driver touts - arrange transport before you arrive using Mr T, Mr Toom, or take the bus.

As far as accomodation is concerned, the area around Soi LK Metro sounds like it would be suited to your requirements. It's a few more minutes away from the main action but accomodation is cheaper and there are some good bars in the area. Not to mention Lolitas and the Hell club :Chokdee3: Most is guesthouse above bar style. Prices range from around 600 to 1,000 baht per night.

If you can get in at the Kilkenny it would be ideal for a first time visitor on a budget:

You may struggle to get one of the really popular places at this late stage but a search on LK Metro bars should turn up quite a few. I'd recommend not paying more than a couple days in advance as you may wish to have a look around and keep your accomodation options open.

Some others:

http://www.hotelpasadenalodge.com (quite nice, and u should be able to get in here)

http://www.metro-apartments-pattaya.com (Probably booked out)

Thanks for that!

Accomodation for around 1000 baht sounds about right to me. I'll certainly look into those guesthouses you mentioned.

So where did you stay and how did you find it?

GR.

Currently at home until after the Wet Season. See you again in Sept.

Update - couldn't wait until Sept, booked for early July.
