$80/night, or less. 4 or 5 star preferably. First priority is the room is clean, water hot, WiFi, bed comfortable. guest friendly is a plus, but not required.

Marriott

Now called AVANI Pattaya Resort & Spa. Good property and great location, but from what I'm seeing the rates are currently $100+.

For what? To get to Soi 6 from LK, or Walking Street to Soi 8?

For what?  To travel between GC's of an afternoon.... or to head to the Darkside etc etc... Good value....

Every story of trouble I've read in Pattaya is in the early hours

Ain't that the truth. Best way to proactively be safe is to be in bed next to your favorite girl by 2 am.

I've never felt unsafe in Pattaya. A night out in an average UK town is far more dangerous.

The only bits of violence I've ever witnessed here is from drunken foreigners. (late night in Soi 6, or on Walking Street).  But these are the same kind of assholes who cause trouble in their homeland. Give them a wide berth and you'll be fine.

If you're wanting to spend that kind of money, stay further away from WS and just take a cab or moto. They are safe, just make sure your moto driver isn't drunk and tell him to drive slowly.
If you're staying within walking distance of WS, most hotels are 2-3 stars and are 20-40 dollars per night.
Also, look at other BG areas, LK Metro or Soi 8. Both areas have a few 4-5 star properties within walking distance. Plenty of places to play besides walking street.
How do you know if moto guy is drunk? I would crawl on hands and knees rather than pay the taxi mafia extortion fees.

I don't think it's good advise to stay anywhere that requires the above transport

yep, he was looking for expensive, adn this is the top of the line and right in the middle of all the entertainment areas, with transportation on both sides.  could nto be better and you are right at the water

Perfect. Had friends stay there recently and it's a great hotel and fantastic breakfast buffet

In a subsequent post the OP said he was looking for $80 or less.

I stayed there quite a few times before I made the move to Pattaya. Always well taken care of and usually got upgraded to a poolside room. I agree the breakfast buffet is great, but that was over eight years ago. Hopefully the new owners are still offering the same level of service.

They most certainly are and that was 3 months ago . Has to be the best location but Im guessing high season prices will be closer to 150 $
