Ko Chang guesthouse

One hung low

Recommended Posts

After reading this thread I have decided to give ko Chang a go this winter.i will be in Asia for 4 months so cost for accommodations will be a deciding factor, I can't afford an expensive place, haha. Any recommendations on a reasonable guesthouse or such?

thanks very much.

how long do you think you'll stay in koh chang for? Monthly rentals are anything from 6/7000 - 50000

paddys palms is your best best for a short stay, nice and close to the action and the beach and at a sensible price

How long is it from pattaya? I'm getting conflicting reports. The paddy palms site says 5 from bangkok?

About a 3 or 4 hour drive and then the ferry.

So I gather anyway.  I'm going out there for the first time in December.

I drove to Ko Chang in November last year, took about 4 hours wth stops on the way, The ferry takes about an hour. Stayed in a guest house on Klong Prao beach, cost about 1000b per night, and Ian the owner is a nice guy and a count of information. You can get details of the guest house as well as a large doses of other information at https://iamkohchang.com/accommodation/klong-prao-beach-hotels/kohchang-guest-house.html

I just came back from KC, my 4th visit this year.  I stayed at the Emerald Cove Resort on Khlong Prao beach.  Rates doubled on November 1st.

I took a minivan from central Pattaya and it was about 4.5 hours to the pier, then roughly another hour combined for the ferry and songthaew to my hotel.

Before picking accommodation, first thing to decide on is which area/beach you want to stay in, depending on what you want to do. Are you wanting it as a "get away" from Pattaya partying?

This might be helpful: https://iamkohchang.com/guide

The southern end of White Sand Beach is probably the most affordable, but can also be "package-tourist hell".

Thanks again guys, much research to do.

so it looks like white sand is the nightlife area?

great looking island, and looking forward to my visit.

the nightlife area varies. whitesands is basically where the most amount of bars with girls are and most of the nightlife bars have bands(oodies, sabay bar and the rockbar). next along is chai chet which just has a handful of girlie bars. nothing really lively in klong prao. then kai bae which has a mini walking st(like 6min max walk) with girlie bars then a couple of cocktail lounges further down the road(mojito and filou).

Then over the mountain you go to lonely beach. techno/deep house, electro house, funky house house blah blah blah if your a raver its its here with all the other backpackers. but unsurprisingly this is where more girlie bars are springing up and where whitesands girls go after work with their customer or to continue the hunt for one

Thanks again , that's what makes this forum so great. As k a question, and the info pours in.

really looking forward to ko Chang.

i am thinking of perhaps doing a circle route on my visa run.

i have to leave for a month this winter, going to Vietnam , then making my way back along the coast to hcmc, then to Cambodia, was thinking of going to ko Chang after cambo.

which is the best route?i know cambo well.

would it be better from snookyville to ko Chang?

regards.

snooky or phnom pehn will have routes set up to go to koh chang. even siem reap does to be fair just via a different border. from pp or snooky you'd most likely go to the koh kong/hat lek border. then up to trat then to the ferry. not sure how many changes you might have to make depends on the travel company. i've never travelled via this route i would like to add, just koh chang to pp and siem reap to koh chang.

I'll be there in feb if you fancy a beer or 3

Yes I have been doing research on the routes from cambo. I arrive November 30 and with my tourist visa I must leave on January 28,  I will travel out of country for a month and then return on my last 30 day stamp.

im expecting my Thai visa to arrive at my home today or tomorrow and then I can make my final travel plans.

im always up for a beer or 10.

I stayed at the Little Eden Guesthouse on Lonely Beach early this year.
600 Baht fan, 800 Baht air. Neat little 2 person huts.
Owner is a nice english fella named David. His wife is a great cook btw.
