Was in the Soho Square last night. The only place that any customers was Utopia. It was quite busy. The big place right next door had only 2 customers. The further in you went the deader it got. The places all seemed nice enough but no customers. There was even a mechanical bull in there for any of you cowboys.

The problem is that the New Soho Square Project is an absolute and total failure. It is a dead zone, which would amplify the risks endemic to the bar business by an order of magnitude.

I was in Utopia back in February and I must admit that area was dead....hardly any punters whatsoever. I was surprised because it looks like one of the better class areas on first glance.

@COYS I agree, but in itself that's not enough. People don't walk there. It's a chicken and egg problem. There's no people there, so nobody goes there. I liked the area too when I walked there in Feb but there were hardly any customers anywhere so I didn't enter any bar.

 

What that area needs is big promotions, so people come there. Once they know the places, they'll return. Now there's no reason and too much competition from the WS bars where people do walk by.

 

If I had money, I might buy some bars there, turn them into niche bars, and promote them big time.

I think you're right about the "Chicken and Egg" problem there Randy. I think you'd be onto a good thing if you could promote and get people interested.

No reply from the seller though. Maybe it's sold already?
