Money requirement for entry into Thailand

I know there was a discussion about this a few weeks ago but cannot find.

How much money do you need to be carrying in the unlikely event of being asked  to produce means of supporting yourself for a 2 week holiday

20K THB or equivalent in AUD...

I've heard few people mention this but find it hard to believe myself. I've lost count the number of times I've visited LOS. 

Then again, maybe it's just not enforced or enforced only when the buffalo is sick. LoL. 

In this day and age. With credit/debit cards, wire transfers and ATM's. I don't see a point in carrying that much cash around anyways.
