USS Indianapolis found.

After over 70 years the wreck of the Indianapolis has been found the greatest loss of life in a single incident in the history of the US Navy.

Yes it has been all over the news.

Is it posted on this section because you believe some will start making reservations to take the ship to Thailand?

IMHO, I don't thank there will be much  Transportation & Travel on this old ship.

Could not think of anywhere else to put it, such a terrible story you survive your ship being sunk and then get attacked by sharks. It is only just spreading around the UK press.

Yes very sad indead.

The shark hunter in the first Jaws movie did some quotes from the survivors off that ship in the new here.

Here's a link to one version of the post sinking story. The Japanese sub captain testified at the Indianapolis' captain's court marshal that zig zag maneuvers wouldn't have stopped the cruiser from being torpedoed. In a book he wrote in the late 1990s, the Japanese captain said he understood enough english to know the court translators weren't correctly translating what he said to the court.

The only Captain in the history of the US Navy court marshaled for losing a ship to enemy action he was a scapegoat finally committed suicide.
