Bira Racing Circuit Security Guard Murdered and 4 racing bikes stolen.

On Wednesday Morning, Police Colonel Somnook, the Chief of Banglamung Police, made his way to the Bira International Racing Circuit to investigate a suspected case of murder. At the scene, officers were directed to a hammock containing the body of Khun Somshai aged 51 who is employed as a security guard at the circuit. The victim’s hands and feet were tied together and severe trauma injuries consistent with repeated blows to the head were evident. The Guard was employed to guard a room containing 1,000cc racing motorbikes. Mr. Richard Knight, the English owner of the bikes confirmed that 4 of them with a combined value of 2 Million Baht, had been stolen. Mr. Knight confirmed that previous to the theft he received a call from a Thai Man who was enquiring about the bikes and also wanted to know where they were stored. Fingerprints and other forensic evidence was removed from the scene as Police hunt for the killer or killers.

Four Men arrested following Bira Racing Circuit Murder and theft.

On Thursday Morning, Police Major General Bundit, the Provincial Commander of Police, led a press conference to announce the arrest of four people aged between 15 and 23 who were arrested in connection with Wednesday’s murder case from the Bira International Racing Circuit. It was also announced that the 3 racing motorbikes taken from the circuit had also been recovered. The suspects were arrested on the strength of an arrest warrant issued by the Pattaya Court following evidence collected at the scene and through the murder investigation run by Banglamung Police. All suspects confessed to their part in the murder and theft and later on Thursday a reconstruction of events leading up to the killing and theft took place. The men demonstrated how they cut through fences and crept up on the sleeping security guard in the early hours of Wednesday Morning. Following his death, the 3 racing bikes were put on the back of the pick-up. We understand that the investigators were able to catch the men because the three bikes were posted on an internet site later on Wednesday and were for sale for a total of 1.2 Million Baht. One of the suspects aged only 15 confessed to striking the security guard on the head and killing him and a further member of the group is a motorbike racer and his older brother is a racing judge at the circuit. The case will be heard in court next week

I am guessing as the person who struck him was 15 years old, its typical that a guy that age doesn't think about the consequences.
