quite a few offering similar fare including ones that ive had scores of flights with no problems

But why would anyone want to go all the way to Beijing Airport and

change planes to return to Bangkok to save a few pound.

The flights are bad enough now without going all the way to China

first.

Yep .....but booking flights in the summer is never going to be the cheapest time IMO, irrespective of when you're travelling.

Of course there will always be grumpy barstewards looking for a reason to grumble. 

If someone chooses to save a few quid, that is their choice, not yours.
