Camera to shoot "naughty" scenes advice

Hey guys I'm coming up on my next trip and was thinking of trying my hand at making some videos in the room. With the girls permission of course. And would also be nice to have a camera that could also take some decent video outside the room.

 

I've been playing around watching vr videos on my Samsung note edge 7 and thought it would be cool to record my own. The vr open they're making these days is out of this world.

 

Can you guys suggest any good cameras for shooting the deed in the room? I'm not talking thousands in professional setup, just a good quality can that I can shoot some good point of view pov with.

 

I was looking at the kodak pixpro sp360 4k. The pro bundle comes with 2 camera. Can mount them side by side and use software to stitch them together for stereoscopic 3d. But I'm not sure how they'd be while in action doing the dirty. Or how good they'd be foe extreme close ups of bbbj, creampie, etc. Here is the one I'm looking at.

Am I over thinking this?

Should I just buy a regular 2d camera that has better focus and zoom ability?

I've never used a DSLR camera, would that be good for shooting homemade porn? And what's the learning curve on those for newbie?

 

Any advice would be great. And if I do end up getting any decent 3d scenes id certainly upload them here.

nikon d3300 or d3400 relatively cheap as far as a dslr goes and good for a starter, 4k and 3d are overkill just get grounded with something that offers sharp crystal clear 1080p

i wouldnt ive watched all of techmoans budget camera reviews and reviews of most of them on other channels seeking a cheap alternative for myself, all these cameras have one thing in common apart from the fact that a large percentage of them are the same cameras in different housings, hideous audio

I've heard good things about the xiaomi yi.

 

But hmmmm. The more I think about it, the more I think maybe after the cost of 2 or more cams, all the accessories, etc. Maybe that's $600-$800 I could be spending to have a better time. More girls, 3somes, bell ringing, whatever.

 

Yeah, maybe I'll save the photography for another future trip. My galaxy edge 7 takes good enough 2d picture for now.

 

Besides, the lucid cam comes out in a couple months and that would be ideal for what I'm trying to do. A consumer stereoscopic 3d action cam all in one. Much easier than the jimmy-rigged setup of using 2 or more cams and trying to mount them and stitch it all together in software.

A baseline mirrorless setup with a cheap camera (like an a6000) using the kit lens in full auto mode (so you don't have to learn anything) on an el cheapo desktop tripod is going to blow away your phone's tiny sensor's quality for videos in hotel room lighting. The tech behind these things was designed for a bored parent to be able to pick it up and get a great shot of their kid without thinking about it. 

The newer phones do a much better job of compensating for this with AI (as do action cams, like the GoPro, but you'll get a lot of distortion from the action cam wide angle view (which wasn't really designed for photographing people or close-ups). 

I'd start with that (I think a used a6000 is probably $350 or $400 now) and then wait till you've shot ten or twenty of your adventures before deciding if you're into this enough to actually go out and buy a lens for it. If not, you can either keep it as a vacation camera or sell it for what you bought it.

4k is a lot nicer now than when this topic was posted a couple of years ago, and a lot more of us have 4k TVs to view it on and even laptops high-end enough to edit 4k video on, but I'm not sure it's worth it for amateur stuff. I still get video footage from professional photographers in 1080p ("high def" or "full HD") all the time.  I'd prefer a smoother 1080p with a better lens on a real camera to a 4k video on a phone.

My thoughts are that a cameraman with a LED video light (2000  baht) would be useful.  

Bad lighting, yellowy tinge, under-exposure, not clear and poor composition are what makes many photos of bedroom activity look bad.  A light and a guy operating the camera can fix that.  But perhaps you are only wanting a DIY solution ! Understandable ofcourse.

Any good smartphone camera with a wide angle lens will work.  The new iPhone 11 Pro's for instance, have the wide angle.  It's all about lighting tho, gotta get the light up so bright it almost defeats the fun.

best to record your audio seperately and sync in post or have a look at the realme budget phones they have a higher bit rate than others and can provide decent audio if you want unmiced

Hi All , I also can recommend Xiaomi action cameras as being excellent for the money and no hassle.

But dont spend money just to have a go. Indoor photography is much harder than it looks and you may find you have lost interest after 1 or 2 vdos. Correct lighting that is not excessively green or yellow is hard to achieve as it correct framing of the shot

Just use your Samsung Edge 7 , that will do the job more than good enough. There are so many good free  tools to edit vdo on phones it is all so easy these days.

If you find you want to keep going with vdo after a few tries that then look at a dslr camera.

You may find your phone on a gimbal is more than enough to do the job.

Although I'm a huge fan of mirrorless cameras, I'm going to contradict my earlier post a little and say that from recent experience, a DJI Osmo pocket camera can do some pretty incredible things. You can put it on a tripod if self-held is too difficult, the mechanical gimbal is incredible (I had no idea how much I needed one till I tried it), and it's extremely convenient to use your phone as a viewfinder. 

I still prefer the mirrorless, but if you want something that's more like your phone, connects to your phone, and has a slick app that does everything for you via your phone, the Osmo's only $300 or $400. It's also easy to get really nice footage outside the bedroom as well. The panoramas are better than my phone, the moving timelapse clips would have required $2k in equipment a couple of years ago and can't be done on a phone, and the ability to have it track a subject while you're walking down the street makes for extremely smooth, stabilized, street videos. 

Mine has earned a place on my next trip, whenever that is, though I'll still bring an actual camera and a couple of lenses for footage I'm more serious about.

Update: there's a new, improved DJI Osmo Pocket model out now, and the old one will likely be cheaper / discounted for Black Friday if anyone's looking to buy one in anticipation of '21 travels.

Get the DJI Osmo Pocket 2. Pocket 2 has wider view and does much better in low light. It therefore covers both outdoors and indoors well. Its a gimbal camera so you can set it up say at the end of the bar or side of the table and let it pan across without you touching it or you can use the mobile phone to control it remotely. Since its 4k, it great video and photo quality. Small footprint, very mobile, you can slip in your pocket and pull it out when you need it. Battery life however is only 140 mins. You can check youtube reviews on it on video quality indoors and outdoors.

I've tried my fancy Sony A7, GoPro & my Samsung phone.

My Sony camera doesn't seem to have as good stabilisation as the GoPro.  Fantastic images, but would need a gimbal or tripod.

The GoPro is good as it's easy to hold, great stabilisation & its small size doesn't scare the girl.

But its colours look a bit washed out.

In the end, i'm happy with my Samsung phone.

It's a generation old. They seem to get better & better so fast. Tempted to upgrade to the S25 next year.

GoPro or the clone connected to power via USB and a large memory card. Focus is never an issue and image quality goes up to 4K.

They are used a lot closer than other cameras. Set the view to 140 degrees. The other views are way too wide angle.

If you want to record POV then a GoPro or any other decent sport camera would do the job and there are tons of accessories that would allow you to strap it to your head, chest or whatever.

BUT

The most important thing is getting the right light(unless you're planning on shooting this in broad daylight with no curtains closed). In a small room even a desk lamp pointed at well, your subject, might be enough. You could buy a cheap LED lamp like Youngnuo YN-300 and put it on a tripod. Even a cheaperst ring light from amazon might work. There's no point in discussing all the options without knowing where exactly you're going to shoot.

Also never, ever EVER point your camera at any source of light, be it a lamp or a window, it will fuck up light metering and you'll end up with unusable footage as everything will be dark.
