Will a phone bought in Thailand work in Australia?

Hello folks

 

I bought a simple NOKIA 1208 last time in Thailand for cheap. About 1000 BAHT if I remember right.

Is it possible to use this phone in Sydney? I have a business trip comming and was just wondering do I just buy a pre-paid SIM card and off I go or do I have to get the darn thing unlocked as well?

 

Up until last year, Australia used to have a CDMA network that supported my Korean phone but the Australian telcos decided to just support GSM based phones now.

Any help would be appreciated.

is it a gsm phone or a cdma?, if it is not locked to any network and a gsm phone you should be ok by just buying an aussie sim card and using that.
