Any players in Pattaya? If we have enough, we could have a small tournament

I would be wary about creating a 'small tournament' in case the police think it is a gambling den.....lol

i like backgammon but it is at heart a gambling game and convincing plod that you are only playing for points would be a challenge.

the bridge club players saga is still dragging on and if bridge is considered a problem.......................

Are all games in Thailand considered to be "gambling" games ?

Do Thais play games ?

Playing games is a part of "childhood".

Is "Snakes and Ladders" considered a "gambling" game ?

Is "Chess" allowed ?

I know "Connect 4" is played, but is it legal ?

I love playing backgammon, and would really welcome playing on a regular basis, but will not if it puts me vulnerable to arrest.

Maybe a legal boffin here would know the legal answer. I hope so.

Yeah I guess it is not worth the effort here. Have to wait till they legalize casinos. Lol

I think if you meet a few people and have casual games over a few beers (not in public) you will be OK. Just don't organise an open tournament.

i spoke to 1 of the 31 (one has passed away) wed night and the case is still dragging on

Please update on what happens in the future to the 31.  I would love to know how the authorities get out of this one and save face at the same time.

I THINK (not sure)... but even having playing cards is considered illegal .... have you seen them being sold anywhere?

They play chess at Central Mall some days..

still going on but i'm told somebody on the prosecution side has died which may make things easier to be quietly forgotten

the bridge club is back playing again using gov approved cards which come with a red stamp of some sort on them

I haven't played for ages, but I would be game.  Again provided that it was not a bridge club situation like has been mentioned above.

playing cards sold in thailand according to some archaic law from the 1940's are supposed to come with an official stamp on them so the 100 or so packs the club had got seized
