Good places to live and close to Pattaya

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Thinking of having six months in Thailand in 2009. Would like to know of some good places to live say 30 minutes to one hour from Pattaya.

Place would need to be farang friendly with access to normal requirements such as internet, cable, good and reasonably priced accomodation, good shopping etc. I have only had one trip to Thailand so am still finding my feet as it were and have no idea of places close to Pattaya.

I would like to live away from Pattaya as it is a bit too hectic for me as I like a quiet life. Still I want to visit Pattaya a couple of times per week for some fun but like to return to quiet place.

Thanks.

LaaMok and Whitespider both live in Sattahip. I've been to LaaMok's old place and it wasn't too far out, maybe 40-45 min by motorbike. Faster if you have a car. His new place is closer I think. Send a PM to either or both; maybe they can help.

You have Rayong, sattahip, Ban Chang or you could stay in Jomtien as white shi shi suggested.

Sattahip is good but if you want to be near girly bars your best of being in Ban Chang.

My place is now about 6 km's nearer Pattaya which means i save about 15 minutes from travelling both ways. Its a lot better.

I have condo based near Jomtien, very quiet area with no housings around .. House Estate called it a Beverly Hills of Pattaya, i wouldn't live half hour/one hour from Pattaya due to heavy traffic along the roads to Pattaya, very stressful to get stuck in the traffic everyday.... The one i live is very easy, 5/10 drive up to Pattaya City..., Usually leave my car at Buddist Temple car park near walking St all day....

How about Bang Saray..........about 30mins (max) south of Pattaya and on the Sukhumvit its quick. Nice beach, few new developments springing up but chilled place.

I also am interested in this topic. Looks like my company is going to be doing some work in Thailand doing start up work on 8 new power plants around the country. We have not gotten the details down at my level yet as to where in Thailand these plants are being built, but I am betting at least one of them is in Rayong, to help with the industry there.

If anyone has seen a new gas turbine power station going in, give a shout or a pm. I am curious where these stations will be built. from what I know of the power grid there, should be one or two around Bangkok, and at least one at Rayong. Just hoping the deep south is NOT on the list of places. Not sure I would want to be come a regular down there.

I also would like to be close to Pattaya, so I could get a quick stop on Soi 6 on the way home in the afternoons.... start my evenings off right

:)

Jomtien is a nice spot but i'm on a tight budget anyone know if it possible to get a room for around the 5000 baht a month mark? i realise that is sluming it but so long as the room has a bed and washing facilities i'm happy

I know a place in Jomtien it's a bit far out though on Soi Chaiyapruk 800 meters from the beach there are baht buses and motor bike taxi's though I would recommend some sort of personal transport, small motor bikes ok or even a push bike (can buy a new one for about 1200). It's quiet good security swimming pools etc.

Prices start at around 6000 per month they are mostly privately owned so vary (furniture etc.) here is a review by Kadafi on one that he paid 8,500 for Kadafi's Review there are also 1 bed, 2 bed apartments and houses available.

I like living at pratumnak. QUiet, decent beach at end of soi, close to everything

Huai Yai is becomingh ever more popular as its quite far out but east Sukh side too. Some good properties there at very reasonable prices. Too far away for some but perfect for many.
