Online bookers tend to take the whole fees upfront.

 

This is the main reason that online booking can be offered so much cheaper.

 

I still prefer the good old fashioned way of paying a hotel when I leave but have to accept accept I cant have the lower prices that way. However, paying on exit allows for easier changes etc - perhaps time out for a trip blah blah.

 

Its a bit like the cheap airfare deal - if you pay more you get a more flexible ticket.
