Chaing Mai girl friendly hotels

Recommended Posts

Hi all.

I'm off to Chaing Mai for the first time in 10 years for Loy Kraythong. I saw an old thread here with some old information but has anyone got any new recommendations?

Would be nice to be close to the night market and bars with a budget between 1.000/1.500 baht.

Cheers all.

You want to stay by Thapae gate or on Loh Kroi Road. Traffic will be insane and you will only be able to walk because the roads will be mostly closed.

This is what I would do. I'd stay by Thapae Gate. That way I can check out the parade, then make my way toward the river to light the lanterns and send a float down the river.

Raming Lodge is in the center of P4P Action. It is the closest and most walkable distance you can get. It is about 2 long blocks walk to the Night Bazaar. You will be walkable distance towards Thapae gate as well so you can see the parade.

Top North hotel is OK. Close to Zoe and close to Loi Kroh.

Top North is my #1 recommendation just because I know I will end up at Zoe even if I hit up the beer bars. But if you are going to pull directly from beer bar then Raming is your #1 place. Royal Lanna hotel works as well because it's on LK road, but will be a further walk to see the parade.

I cannot remember but I think the parade goes through Tapae Palace as well. Those are all guest friendly and the closest to the action.

Porn Ping Tower is on the other side of the Night Bazaar (East of). It's by Hot Shot where they have live music, but it's kind of dead in that area other than Hot Shot. However, you will be closer to the river so you can light your lantern and set it off. It's just further off from the parade if you want to see that.

Amora hotel is right off the side of Loi Kroh Road, but it has a 1000 baht joiner fee. It's classier in my opinion. It will also be right in front of the parade and walkable distance to Zoe and LK Road.

Le Meridien hotel? Girl friendly? I need good hotel for 2 nights, close to the action.

Just read here that another hotel (Amora)charges 1000 baht joiners fee. I suppose I could email Le Meridien to clarify their policy. But maybe someone on forum knows.

I'm staying at Top North now, January 2020. Good rates. Friendly staff and nice big room. Everything in the bathroom leaks and is a bit worn but I'm fine with it. Had a girl stay last two nights. No one said a thing. Reasonable value for the price. Bear in mind that this is my first trip to Thailand so I'm no expert a getting deals.

I hired a ladyboy driver to pick me up at the airport and drive me around my first day. Told her I came to Thailand to  be a butterfly and have fun and she gave me tons of good advice including this hotel.

Yeah, that's most places in CM, cheap and cheerful is the best way to describe it.

Left for Pattaya this morning. Just want to put in another word for Top North. I really enjoyed my stay there and it is well located. The leaky mildewy bathroom might be a turn off for some but other than that I had no complaints at all! Would definitely stay there again.
