Review - Hotel Sandy Springs in Pattaya (Neutral)

I was in Pattaya earlier this year and stayed at the Sandy Springs hotel. In short, I give it a neutral rating - neither positive or negative (3 stars out of 5?) Please note that this hotel is an extremely popular one with many tourists, who had great stays there. But it just wasn't my favorite.

GENERAL INFO:

The hotel has several levels of rooms, but in my mind the only two you have to ask yourself is whether you want to stay in the regular room or the suite. I stayed in the suite because I wanted to stay in a place with an in-room safe (the regular room has no safe, but there is one downstairs in the lobby). There is no pool. The place is probably about 20 minutes walk from the action of Walking Street. Because of that, at night, if you are with a girl, I recommend privately hiring a baht-bus to take you back to the hotel.

The hotel is about 2 minutes walk to the beach, if that is important to you. There are several restaurants within close walking distance.

I paid just under 1,600 baht per night (off season) for the suite. This included a free wired internet special (more about that below)

OVERALL QUALITY:

Here is the website to the place: http://www.sandyspringhotel.com/

t's a three-star hotel. By that I mean the hotel is not as attractive as the photos make it out to be. The room has the feel of a motel 6 (for those of you in the U.S.) - a traveler's stop with somewhat worn furniture and carpeting.

Tho hotel's saving grace is that the suite was huge. More room than I needed. However, I preferred staying at the Nova Platinum hotel (see my concurrent review of that hotel).

STAFF FRIENDLINESS

The staff was pretty friendly. Nothing particularly stands out.

INTERNET:

The place had a deal providing free internet. I understand they may do this periodically. But the manner in which they do it is pretty odd. Apparently the hotel's internet provider gives the hotel a number of passwords that allow for free internet usage in increments of 30 minutes to two hours. So if you want free internet, you have to go to the lobby and ask for a password. After the password expired, you have to go downstairs again for a new one. However, since the hotel has a finite number of these passwords, there is no guarantee you can get additional time after your current password expires. I found that setup less than ideal.

I am assuming you are talking about the Sandy Spring hotel on soi 13 (as I have not heard of a hotel called Spandy Springs). I have not stayed there since March last year but they certainly had a swimming pool then. Located on the 3rd floor.

Just come back from a short stay at SS-its a good hotel for the money 1500 for a deluxe room with nice view over the bay.

Staff are first class, rooms are big and beds big and comfortable.

No problems with girls ever.

Needs a bit of a facelift but I like it---wish they would add a safe to the rooms though.
