Hotels busy this high season?

I guess it will be at least a little crowded this high season...

 

I am looking for a hotel for December 13 till the 20th, then I'll meet up with my tg and stay at another hotel from the 20th to the 30th.

 

The Pattaya Bay Resort said they are fully booked, the Flipper Lodge only had 2 twin bed rooms. Any suggestions for a good mongering hotel, then a good hotel for a couple? I'm looking to try to spend less than 1600 baht a night. Don't care about pool or fancy stuff, especially during my mongering week. But the hotel has to accept credit cards.

I know that it is definitely not crowded at the end of January thru February 15th. I emailed 5 hotels about avaialability and they all had multiple rooms available. Some even sent me follow up emails to see if I wanted to reserve a room.

That's almost exactly the same time frame I'm looking at. Which hotels have you tried? The only one I've emailed is Areca on Soi Diana. They may not be crowded, but they're still charging high season rates.
