First of, get the app “hello talk” and you’ll find many people eager to learn language by chatting with a free app.

A site I would recommend for your future Thai reference would be thai-language.com. It is mostly a Thai-English dictionary, but it also has forums for people learning Thai and a section dedicated to the high/medium/low pitches of each letter and grammar.

A really good place to start is with the book/audio course "Thai For Beginners." This can help you get a good foundation and hear native speakers properly pronouncing each.    This podcast is also good: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/learn-thai-podcast/id127409147?mt=2

Grab Lonely Planet's Thai Phrasebook. If you have little time, it can act as a decent ad-hoc translation book. The way Thai is spelled out in English is helpful.

Learn it by watching TV http://babelhut.com/study-methods/tv-method/tv-method-thai/

apps:  Flashcards deluxe ios (my favorite), Anki free on computer, memrise (good free built in lessons free) ios
For me it’s essential to use one of these as their algorithms help prioritize what you remember.

check out this guy’s method http://www.fluentin3months.com/

Ultimately the best methods are the methods you enjoy and keep doing, whether that be in person or watching TV. Good luck on your language learning journey.
