Recommended Posts

just got an email from siam-legal  regarding getting my gf a visitors visa to uk.    1 sticking point here and that is i am currently ( not employed )   i have worked all my life but now unemployed , i do have substantial savings and my own apartment.

* we have been together 3 years on and off.   we have evidence.

* she can get proof of her work in thailand ( not bar )

* she has been to france before ( 2 yrs ago ) and came back to thailand on her own accord .

* she is 30 yrs old ,no kids to suppport.

* i have substantial savings as proof and  she has money in bank also but just not much.

BAD POINTS.

* i am unemployed   ( i can get under the table proof im working ) .

* i am still legally married to wife here in uk but waiting on court date in next couple months to divorce ( seperated 2 years allready ).

would i have a chance of getting her here for 6 months ?

should i pay the visa agent fee ?    26000 baht   or do it alone.   she is not stupid and can go to embassy and cope with the paperwork herself.

the email from visa experts -

Thank you for your contact.

I am Wimonrat, the visa consultant of Siam Legal.

Regarding your concern, yes she may get the visa to visit the Uk. Anyway she need to provide her strong ties in Thailand to prove that she will return after the trip and also you both need to prove that you have relation together more than 6months then you can sponsor her for the visa application.

For you information, please see the details regarding the service;
UK Visitor Visa
The service costs THB 26,400. Our UK Visitor Visa Service includes

?         Full review of your sponsor and your own personal, financial & employment history
?         Consultation with our UK visa specialists
?         Comprehensive checklist of required documents for the applicant and the sponsor (if any)
?         Professional and accurate preparation of your visa application
?         Submission of your visa application to the proper government agencies
?         Careful preparation of all correspondence with government agencies
?         Expert advice on how to handle yourself during the interview

Embassy fee is not included. Embassy fee is approx. 5,000THB.

Regards,

Wimonrat Laksameeopas (Visa Consultant)

Do it yourself! 26400 Baht for submitting an application for a TV is a joke as the amount of that they do is small. The largest job is the collection of documents which you need to do. With some research you will easily find what documents you should submit. IMO a well prepared application is very likely to be approved.

The two points you have listed under 'Bad Points' are irrelevant for a tourist visa (given that you have sufficient savings to cover the cost of the trip). Her reasons for returning are that she has a job to return to and will be returning to Thailand with you at the end of the trip (if that is the plan).

For an initial idea of the documents required have a look at my website for Australian tourist visas. If you use this format and check for anything different that the UK requires you shouldn't go too far wrong. I just want to reiterate that will will need to check that it is OK for a UK Visa. Here is a link: OzVisaThai

If you do decide to go with an agent use one that has a no visa no fee policy. They will not provide a service if they are not confident of being successful. One such business is Key Visa.

I second the advice to just do it yourself its actually straightforward just time consuming I have just submitted one for my girlfriend to visit me in the UK, just waiting for confirmation that she has been awarded one, she has had a call saying she has been successful just not picked up her passport yet.  The information on the website given is very close to what I used for ours.  I also followed the advice on http://thailand-uk.com/.

If we are successful I can send you the list of supporting evidence I used and the supporting letter we submitted other than that make it look professional and well-presented you are trying to impress them that you are serious.

In regards to Key Visa, I know they have a lot of praise on this forum and probably have a lot of happy customers, but for me they were useless, main problems being communications and a couple of outright lies.  I have been waiting for the results of our own visa application to make sure there were not problems with what I provided before writing a review as soon as I have that will post what our experiences were in more detail.

I agree with the above and do it yourself. With all the good points you've

listed you'll be fine.

The main things the embassy care about are:

'does she have reason to return to Thailand?' and ' can the cost of her trip be covered?'

It looks like you can prove that. Also, you you'll need to prove the relationship is genuine so plenty of photos, emails, Line conversations ( which you can download easily ) etc.

I used an agent because it was our first time and I wanted it to go through no problem. The opposite happened and our first visa got refused. The second application was successful.

I'm pretty sure if we'd done it ourselves it would've been ok. I'll do it myself next time.

Doing a few trips will help. I hadn't been on any major trips with my Mrs so I couldn't use that as evidence.

To download Line chat history go the the settings in the particular chat you want to download. Then go to 'export chat history'. You can choose how to save it. I just emailed it to myself and it worked fine.

  • 3 weeks later...

I used a visa agent last year for a successful application

No problems at all and I was wondering what all the fuss was about.

Then last trip I had a look at the file the agent had put together as I was going to do the next one myself. Let's just say that pretty much 75% of the info and documents in it were complete bullshit. There were receipts for condos that I had apparently bought, bank statements of money that I'd never sent via western union and phone bills with 100s of calls between me and my gf that we had never made.

I'd say be very careful when using an agent, I knew nothing about what had been put in the application and wouldn't of gone ahead with it if I had of known
