Couldn't find a relevant sub forum so will leave here for now

Google is not being my friend on this occasion with circular routes and clear contradiction of requirements hence if I can ask here in brief.

Our Son born in Thailand December 2008

We were married officially etc at that time...... We still are, but estranged. Mother remains in Thailand and has never been to UK

She wants to take him to live in Germany where her mother has lived for nearly 28 years. Am not sure if shes going with German "boyfriend" but I dont see that is relevant if she is ?? (edited....divorce obviously first ?)

Anyone been in a similar situation ??

Can't see how she'll make it to Germany if she's still married to you. How would she get the visa?

Yes thats where I edited it. Her mother is sure Visa will be no problem. She has dual nationality and husband owns vast factory in Frankfurt. Thats their business.

Only interested in Brit passport for my boy as such

Might be worth posting in Thaivisa forum also to get their take

John -my nephew - was born in Canada. His dad is a UK citizen. My sister divorced the prick 20 years ago. John successfully applied for a UK passport in 2009.

When your son was born you should have registered the birth with the British Embassy  . You can still apply for a passport for him through the Embassy , if you in Thai . You will need some papers no doubt to prove  .

From memory the Birth wasn't registered at British Embassy. Marriage certainly was. We have the relevant documents I believe obviously Marriage and Birth Certificates being the main one I'd guess

I found an email address for Consular section so have emailed them asking them for requirements rather than sending links that are not clear.

Hopefully sooner or later they will respond. Might whack the subject over to Thaivisa as Scuba suggests

Oh I see. You shouldn't have any problem with the passport for your son as far as I'm aware.

You dont need to register a birth to get a British passport. You will need the original birth certificate of the child.

And your long UK version current processing is 3 weeks.
