Filipino national short visit to Australia

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

I'm an Aussie looking to travel with my Pinoy long term partner (who works legally in Thailand) back to Australia for a short holiday (one week or less, from Bangkok)

We would travel together and return together to Thailand.   I would cover all costs.

Anyone have any experience of what's involved in this?

I had a friend do it.

She had to submit the paperwork in person at the Australian Embassy/consulate in Manila. When she did, she was told the paperwork had to be completed by a Visa agent which cost about $500. Visa was approved.

Probably best to talk to someone from the Embassy about what needs to be done.

It shouldn't be a problem. Check out my guide (Ozvisathai). If you follow it you should be OK although you will need to adjust it a little with her not being Thai. Make sure you document her status in Thailand. There is absolutely no requirement to use a visa agent or for it to be lodged it in Manila.

Just remember that for any application lodged in Thailand they now require biometric data (facial photo and fingerprints) to be taken. This needs to be done at the VFS office in Bangkok.

Yes, It would be a smart move to leave from Thailand, immigration in the Philippines are very hard to deal with for a filipina going overseas with a foreigner. Philippine addicts has quite a few horror stories and I have had issues myself with the GF.
