IGNORED

Proof of Residence now required for Retirement/Extension

A post in another thread made me look into this and I'm not aware that it's been posted in the 'Visas' section.

If it has and I missed it, apologies.

Apparently, Jomtien Immigration are now insisting on Proof of Residence when you apply for a Retirement visa or you extend one.

I found this on another site:

Obviously it means more paperwork but also raises the question of what you do if you are renting from a farang. How many people who rent out condos have work permits?

If they start insisting on this there could be a lot of empty condos!

It's only reports so far, but an increasing number, so we'll have to see how it pans out.

They do seem to be tightening up though.

As I'll probably try to go down the Retirement visa route, I try to keep up with what's needed.

It doesn't seem to be getting easier.

First time I have seen that. Any idea what they may require if you live in your wife or girlfriend's house?

Similar with the marriage visa, they are now requesting that a third party, a Thai with a Tabian Baan from the area you are located accompanies you as a witness. This despite the fact that you have a yellow Tabian Baan and your wife has her full Blue one.  I can see this may well prove difficult for some people.

Please do so, we called someone over who we know and it was sorted but were told next year we will need to comply.
