I recognize most of those symptoms described, male, late fourties... Can you recommend a responsible doctor in Pattaya who know something about this?

Several of my friends (60yrs+) are taking these with no perceived ill side-effects. They have all settled into a single capsule a day taken at breakfast, as producing the desired effect.

If you want to try the injectable route then the newer Nebido may be the answer as it only requires quarterly jabs.

I have been taking Andriol testocaps, one per day, almost daily for a year now. They help keep my energy level up so I can work out/exercise after my 12 hour work days, keep my attitude good and overall a general feeling of wellbeing. If I miss a few days, I notice the loss of these good effects. At about 840 baht for 60 caps, not a bad investment!!

Really wanted to try the HRT out of China, Jintropin, but thanks to my govt's efforts to save the world, it is no longer available.

Anyway, I definitely give Andriol a thumbs up.

I've heard that Dr Olivier in Soi Day Night does the necessary checks prior to a course of treatment.

I heard Dr Oliver charge even more for a consultation than the (overpriced) Bangkok Pattaya Hospital, is that true?

Maybe I need to lower my expectations, how about any doctor who at least won't go "alai wa" when faced with this question? ;)

Dr Oliver charges 500 baht per consultation plus cost of tests required, you do not have to buy the meds off of him. Your speaking with a non judgmental doctor in your own language who does not make his income from marking up your needs.

If not sure go have a 500 baht consultation and ask him for an estimate for whats required, = 1 BF or a few drinks :GoldenSmile1:

The number one thing anyone can do to radically slow down the ageing process is quite simple - a healthy lifestyle, exercises including resistive exercise plus good diet, proper sleep and no smoking/heavy drinking. Popping any amount of pills is going to be a short term fix at best.

Unfortunately that takes self discipline and effort, no easy fixes.

I notice just how few guys over 40 go to any gym I have ever attended , less 10% I guess.

I remember Joe Weider saying how he could curl 25kg dubmbells in his mid 60's, age is no excuse.

Agreed, having a lifetime fitness regime is always going to help.

Popping any amount of pills is going to be a short term fix at best.

Totally disagree, this thread is not about "popping' pills, it about HRT. An entirely different animal and one that will become as standard for men in the future as it is already for women.

I notice just how few guys over 40 go to any gym I have ever attended , less 10% I guess.

I use CW gym, the mix there is at least 50/50, with the edge just maybe on the side of the 40+ group. Drop that age to 35 and its no contest they are by far the majority, all of whom tend to be the more serious trainers and in better shape. The numbers change as you go upwards but there is still at least 15% in the over 55 group. Now that I agree should be higher, in fact I think it should be the highest! but as you say;

that takes self discipline and effort,

Many great post her. Some of you seem to have a lot of knowledge about this topic.

I am completely green, but after reading about the topic on this board, I am left with the following questions:

- I have heard that when you start taking testosterone, you must continue for the rest of your life. At the same time I have heard that you have to stop after a period and give it a rest (cycling). So what is the right ting? Do you have to continue non stop, or do you have to take breaks from time to time?

- Is it enough to take one steroid, or do you have to combine a lot of different steroids. For me it would have been great just to get an injection once a month or once every 3 month. Is this possible, or do you have to combine a lot of different stuff to get a boost in libido/energy, and better result in the gym (better body)?

- How long does it take before you fell the boost in libido/energy after taking the first injection?

- What is the difference between HGH and testosterone injections. Witch of the two is best?

Thanks for quick reply katandmilo. I have got a much clearer picture of HRT now.

I guess the problem for me at the moment, is that I can’t stay on testosterone when I get back to Norway, since it is illegal there. In five year I will probably have saved enough money to stay in Thailand most of the year. When that time comes, HRT is something I would diffidently consider.

Katandmilo,

I friend of mine in Norway that are into bodybuilding, says that it is very difficult to get testosterone from a doctor. I will also suspect that it can be expensive in Norway. But if I show up with rock bottom test levels, and tell the doctor that I am very depressed, it will probably work. It is worth locking in to.

Thanks again

I went to see dr. Oliver today: http://www.dr-olivier-clinic.com/English.htm

You don’t have to make an appointment beforehand. It is just to show up and wait for your turn.

I told him that I was considering taking testosterone.

He then asked me a couple of questions:

- Why I wanted to take testosterone,

- if I have allergies osv.

I told him that I wanted more energy and more libido, and that maybe testosterone could help me with that since I was getting older.

He then recommended me to talk multivitamin every morning, and to take a blood test to find my current testosterone level and to control the prostate. He also controlled my blood pressure.

He then told me that there is a new tre month depot injection that cost 9000 bath a shot (expensive), and a two or four week depot injection that cost 500 baht (cheap). He didn’t recommend pills, as he said it was no good for the liver (could seem like he was not updated on Andriol, or that he wanted to sell me injections).

He told me to come back on Saturday or Monday for the results from the blood test.

The visit cost me 2250 bath.

I think the price was ok. It will be interesting to find my current testosterone level and a blood pressure and prostate test is always good to have done (they didn’t stick a finger in my ass, only blood test).

If, after seeing the test results, I decide to try testosterone, I think I will start with Andriol for one month to se how my body reacts to it. Then maybe later I will go for injections.

I will know more on Monday.

curious as to the answer to this, if i was to get a prescription in thailand for testosterone should i be able to use that script in australian chemisrs rather than seeing an australian doctor?

I visit thailand 5 or 6 times a year so getting repeats of a doctor shouldn't be a problem, australian doctors i feel wouldn't be too keen on giving me a script for testosterone.

This is of course assuming when i visit a Thai doctor they do the necessary tests and feel i would benefit from using it.

You would do well to read up on this one as it is not getting a good press and is, as you say, very expensive.

It will be interesting to find my current testosterone level

Remember to ask what scale they are comparing it against.

I got my test results from dr. Oliver, and they are as follows:

Special parameters: Results Units Normal ranges

Cancer marker for prostate (PSA, total) : 2.42 ng/mL less than 4.0

Testosterone (ng/dL, serum : 459.71 ng/dL 241-827

Testosterone (nmol/L, serum : 13.33 nmol/L 6.9-27.8

Since my PSA was within the normal ranges (thank god), and my testosterone level are a little on the lover side, dr. Oliver said that he could give me an injection of Testoviron 250 mg. once a month.

I told dr. Oliver that I wanted to start of with Andriol testocaps, and maybe come back for an injection later.

Dr. Oliver told that an injection of Testoviron 250 mg. cost 500 bath + 300 bath for the consolation.

I bought a box of Andriol testocaps (60 pills) from the pharmacy next to Tim beer bar for 1000 baht, and have been taken three pills a day for about one and a half week. Andriol is working, no doubt about it. Already after three days I noticed increased libido. I go to the gym every four day. After I started taking Adriol, I recover much better after a workout. I also gained some weight from 85 kg to 88 kg, but I actually lock skinnier around the stomach. I am 191 cm, so at 88 kg I still lock too skinny (I always have).

I have not had any bad side effects from Andriol. My hair haven’t started falling of or anything, and my balls still have the same size. All in all Andriol have been working very well.

My question now is if I should go over to monthly injections Testoviron 250 mg, instead of Andriol.

I am a little confused about what Testoviron is and how it works. Some places on the net Testoviron is explained to a blend of Testosterone with the propionate (short) ester attached, and testosterone with the Enanthate (long) ester attached. Other places on the net Testoviron is explained to bee a a pure testosterone Enanthate product

Lets say that Testoviron is a pure testosterone Enanthate product. Then it will have a half live of about 10 days. An injection a month with a product that at most have a half live of 10 days? That makes no sense to me. Shouldn’t an injection every 15 day bee a minimum? With monthly injections’ of Testoviron, I would guess that the testosterone level in the end of the month should bee pretty low. I that true, or do an injection of Testoviron 250 mg really last a whole month? I am a bit confused here.

I also have the impression that Testoviron is stronger than Andriol (more anabolic), and therefore can have more side effects. Is that true?

My wife is in the medical profession and here is what I know:

"A lack of male hormones is an extremely rare cause of erection difficulties but a decreasing testosterone level can reduce Desire for sex." If you are feeling horny yet your cock isn't working it's probably not testosterone levels.

Get tested for hormone levels and a PSA before doing anything.

I'm 45 with normal range testosterone levels and I'm overall healthy with a normal BMI. I have a good sex drive but I'm always looking for "more", trying to be 20 again.

I obtained some Androgel without a prescription (see above). I tried it for a month and gained weight and had negative personality changes (short temper). I didn't notice any improvement in sexual energy or Desire.

I'll stick with the ED meds for now, when I need an extra boost.

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do."

Here are the bloodwork normal ranges. This should be useful when your getting tested so you dont get bullshitted. All test are pricy even in Thailand. Hormone panel is usually the most.

Hormone panel:

Testosterone: normal range 300 - 1200ng/dl

Free testosterone: normal range 8.7 - 25pg/ml

IGF-1: normal range 109-284ng/ml

Estradiol: normal range 5 - 53pg/ml

DHEA-s: normal range 120 - 520ug/dl

Thyroid panel:

T4: normal range 4.5 - 12ug/dl

T3: normal range 2.3 - 4.2pg/ml

TSH: normal range 0.350 - 5.500uIU/ml

Blood Lipid panel:

Total cholesterol: normal healthy range 100 - 199mg/dl

LDL fraction: normal range 0 - 99mg/dl

HDL fraction: normal range 40 - 59mg/dl

Triglycerides: normal range 0 - 149mg/dl

C-reactive protein: > 2mg/l increased risk of MI and stroke

Homocysteine: normal range 6.3 - 15umol/L

Liver function:

Alkaline phosphatase: Normal range 25 - 150IU/L

GGT: normal range 0 - 65IU/L

SGOT: normal range 0 - 40IU/L

SGPT: normal range 0-40IU/L

PSA: normal 0.0 - 4.0ng/ml

Renal function tests:

Creatinine: normal 0.5 - 1.5mg/dl

BUN: normal range 5 - 26mg/dl

Creatinine/BUN ratio: normal 8 - 27

and egget you need to check out the bodybuilding forums (freakzonline etc) they have the sort of info your after. But really they will tell you to do a bit of reading first cos the questions you ask are pretty basic. The protocol for the test is based on its ester or halflife and your personal goals. PM if you want links.
