Why Can't I Connect to One Paticular Website?

No, it's not a porno website. I used to be able to connect to it with my personal laptop. However, I now get the message "Unable to Connect." The website is operational because I can connect to it from my work computer. It is the only operational website I can't connect to. I tried a "system restore", but that didn't work either. I began having the problem about a week ago after I was unable to connect to the web for a short period. Has anyone else ever had this problem?

Did you do something "naughty" on the site and got yourself banned/blocked? That would explain why you can access from work.... different IP address.

or your home ISP may be blocking the site due to dodgy content. You avoid naming the site, so we can only speculate!

Try a proxy or vpn.

Next trip Aug 31-Sep13, theme: try more freelancers, get dirty! Note to self: TAKE MORE PHOTOS!!!

There was a news article saying bigblackcocks.com was blocking people from any of the states that voted for Trump. Fight the power! :D

(Just to be clear, this is a joke, not true, sheesh)

What par47 says. It seems most likely there is an IP block from the website on you, or your ISP has a content block on the website.

Another possibility is perhaps your antivirus-type program or an add-on to your browser has the site blocked (because the domain is a known malware repository or something); but in that case I believe it would tell you something other than 'unable to connect'.

How can i find out if my ISP has a block on this website? Thanks.

If you have another computer, tablet or even your phone trying connecting via wifi and see if it is isolated to just the first computer.

Try switching off your router when you go to bed and leave it off while you are asleep, this will reset the connection/ ip address to your isp.

Agreed: I was blocked from a site today with an error message indicating problems with the SSL certificate. I've gotten failure messages like this on occasion from sites I thought are OK, including this one.

I entered the URL in a different browser, declined the antivirus program's invitation to install their addon and was able to access the site. Although the site had a lot of useful computer tech information, none of the suggestions will work for the issue I'm researching (booting from a > 2 TB drive on an older system). A new motherboard, CPU and RAM would allow that...sigh.
